Vicodin is not only a pain killer it has opiates in it.Opiates is a derivative of opium and is a very very strong downer. Drinking alcohol is taking a chance of u not ever walking up.I think if you take this drug u should not drink at all that day.This will make sure u wake up the next day.Everyone that is telling u to take it together is an idiot.Everybody is different and your body might have a low tolerate for drugs and like I said before, u might not wake up.

If you are taking vicodin,then you have some pain issues you are dealing with.And vicodin is a narcotic. I would concentrate on getting well,then when you have been free of narcotics from your system for at least 24 hours and know that you will no longer be taking any more, then resume your drinking. Narcotics and alcohol can slow down your respiration rate and this isn't anything you should be messing around with.

Responsibly? At least 4 hours... But there's a school of thought that maintains you should take the vicodin WITH alcohol. But that school is pretty messed up... all the time.

Acetaminophen and hydrocodone side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
In rare cases, acetaminophen may cause a severe skin reaction that can be fatal. This could occur even if you have taken acetaminophen in the past and had no reaction. Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away if you have skin redness or a rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling. If you have this type of reaction, you should never again take any medicine that contains acetaminophen.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- shallow breathing, slow heartbeat;
- a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
- confusion, unusual thoughts or behavior;
- seizure (convulsions);
- easy bruising or bleeding; or
- nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Common side effects include:
- drowsiness;
- upset stomach, constipation;
- headache;
- blurred vision; or
- dry mouth.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
