Hi Kate, I get down in the dumps at times and always try to find something positive to think about. Try to think of a happy time in your life. I read, listen to music, find someone to talk to. My favorite thing to do is watch a good comedy or even something that might make me cry. My 2 favorite movies to watch when I get down in the dumps are The Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood and Monster-In-Law!!

Distract or Self Sooth- Examples of are: Do something that is the opposite of how you are feeling. If you are depressed and can fix the problem- try to fix it. If you can't distract yourself by doing something you enjoy to takes your mind off of things. ie. I love to talk to a friend, take a long shower, fix yourself up and go to dinner or a funny uplifting movie. I also like to clean the house. light candles, change the sheets. or got to bath and body works and buy some sweet scented body creams. Okay sorry I ran with that one... Can you tell I believe in spoiling ones self? If someone makes you feel bad then be a friend to yourself and make yourself feel better. LOL!!!

lots of things; rent some dvd's that make you feel good (i like romantic comedy's), or any of the 'friends' collection. Eat ice-cream, or order a takeaway. Call up friends and family for a chat, go for a walk or do some exercise. I also like shopping if i have enough money - to make myself feel good - treat yourself to something you've wanted for ages but kept putting off buying.

I try to get together and do something fun with friends that I know will cheer me up, like a movie or going out for dinner. If that's not possible, I sleep, try to distract myself with something else (like work, a book, music, etc) or go for a run outside.

Sometimes writing it all down works, too.

I watch the funniest movie I own.

I eat dark chocolate.

I drink a milk with that.

I call someone to talk to and ask their opinions and see if they have advice.

Then, if all else doesn't fail, I make a prank call and ask someone if their refrigerator is running, or if they have Prince Charles in a can (let him out, let him out).

Good luck!

Put on a good CD turn the volumn up as loud as I can stand...and dance and sing as loud as I can! (much to my neighbors dismay)

I always sing a little song. I figure that if I'm suffering, why shouldn't everyone else around me?

I go to the store and buy something for my grand children. Their smiles cheer me up.
