I know of Jewish rituals. Sabatth is one of them. I hope I spelled it right. I am not Jewish , but love everything that has to do with rituals. What is the meaning of the Menorah, I know it has nine candles, but when and how is it celebrated? And what is the ritual meaning? Thanks to all who answer my question. Greetings Angelika

there is so much confusion over the word menorah that alot of Jewish people don't even know what it is and even Jewish people i know who know better, still use it incorrectly just out o fhabit. The menorah was built by the Jews as they wandered through the desert to be used in the Temple once they got to the promised land. Somone posted a relatively correct answer about the meorah so i wont repeat his info. On Chanukah however, we use something called a chanukiah which looks like the menorah but it has branches where as the menorah had 7.

the menorah and the chanukiah are not the same thing no matter what adam sandler sys in his chanukah song

Hanukkah is the story of God's provision. The Maccabees just finished fighting against the Hellenist empire and reclaimed the Holy Temple. They were dedicating it and found the Greeks had defiled the oil for the Menorah (lamp). There was only enough purified oil for one day but God made it stretch out for eight days. It is celebrated around Christmas and that's why most people think Hanukkah is the Jewish Christmas

I'm not a Jew but a Yahdaim (e/g the tribe of Yahdah) (No "J" in the Hebrew Alphabet). We light the 7 lamp lamp-stand in memory of the 7 eras of the Houses of Yahweh, The western Lamp representing the Last days work of the House of Yahweh which is currently the Light to the world and which will never go out.

Prov 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light.

Numbers 8:1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2 "Speak to Aaron, and tell him,'When you light the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.'"

3 Aaron did so. He lit its lamps to light the area in front of the lampstand, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

4 This was the workmanship of the lampstand, beaten work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was beaten work: according to the pattern which Yahweh had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

Lev 6:13 Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out.

The other six lights have be extinguished by the beastly governmental system, but soon to be resurrected. Yahweh has the seven lamp lamp-stand before his throne continually to let all those who dwell with him to remember the seven eras of work that he has done with mankind. I'm not Jewish, but a Menorah is used at Hanukah. I think that each candle gets lit successively as the 8 nights of Hanukah go on. That is all I know, or think I know.

christmas - Feast of the Nativity of Jesus Christ. In the early Church the dinner party used to be celebrated in conjunction with the Epiphany. But already in A.D. 2 hundred St. Clement of Alexandria (one hundred fifty-215) refers to a targeted dinner party on May 20, and the Latin Church started gazing it on December 25. The privilege of clergymen supplying 3 Masses on Christmas Day is going again to a customized at the start practiced by way of a pope who, approximately the fourth century, celebrated a nighttime Mass within the Liberian Basilica (in which quite often the manger of Bethlehem is preserved), a moment within the Church of St. Anastasia, whose dinner party falls on December 25, and a 3rd on the Vatican Basilica. Many of the gift customs in quite a lot of international locations are traceable to the Church's Christianizing the pagan celebrations related to the opening of iciness and the brand new 12 months. easter - The day commemorating Christ's Resurrection from the useless. It is the finest of all Christian gala's, having the valuable location within the liturgical 12 months. It is the Christian dinner party associated with the Jewish Pasch. The exultant Alleluia is continually repeated within the Mass and Divine Office, the Vidi Aquam replaces the Asperges, and the Regina Coeli the Angelus. The Easter season keeps from Easter Sunday to Trinity Sunday inclusive. As you'll see, neither Christmas nor Easter are 'pagan'. Also, "trick or treating" is whatever performed on Halloween, and Halloween isn't, in and of itself, a Catholic Holiday.

What I read was each candle represents each night of Oil of some sort. Each night you light a candle to something about Oil.
