Would that allow a better understanding of logistics, reality and suffering?
From the Independent newspaper this morning:
"Mark Lancaster, Tory MP for North East Milton Keynes and a major in the Territorial Army who has just returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan, said: "My view is that British forces are having to cobble units together. The current level of operation is unsustainable."
If more politicians served in horrendous conditions, perhaps they'd be less inclined to precipitate those said same conditions...

I've often said that if some our world leaders had to fight along side the folks they readily send to war, they might not be so quick to send them.

No there is not any want for a draft. we've better than adequate volunteers already. and that i doubt that the standard public of adult males who could be eligible are at present cruising the Caribbean on their ocean liners. FYI that's elementary for the rich to avert the draft, as did Mitt Romney via claiming he became a minister.

How is a Member of Parliament serving as a military officer at the same time? Can the Limeys do that?

The average number of republican congressional family members serving in the Iraqi war is higher than the average family in the United states.

Every pollie that is responsible for sending troops to fight in a foreign land should do a tour of duty in that land.
What are the chances of this happening???? They don't want to know....it seems many if not most have the moral conscience of a lizard.

For politicians and also the President.
It's more convenient and less dangerous to fight a war from the Pentagon or the White House.

Draft journalists and liberals, they're the ones putting our soldiers at risk. But, then, what would the military do with them? The military needs people who understand factual reports, not campaign promises.

Its easier to send OTHERS to die. Especailly the ones who are not investors. That is not just a shot at the republicans it is a shot at every politician out there.
