What is extraordinary about the Mexican soft drink, Sidral Mundet, is that as soon as the bottle cap was invented in the U.S. at the turn of the 20th century the first sidrales, produced by Don Arturo Mundet in 1902, had this innovation.

Another fact is that Sidral Mundet has been pasteurized since that date. For many of us who grew up in the heady days of the soft drink explosion in Mexico in the '50s (Jarritos appeared in 1950) Sidral Mundet had a very special place.

As a kid I often had an upset stomach and tended to empty it orally. Invariably the doctor would prescribe Sidral Mundet and melba toast. Alas both Sidral Mundet and Jarritos (the tamarind flavour is the best) are owned by Coke. So it is produced at Coke Cola plant
