The product key comes WITH the CD, but is not stored ON the CD, so if you don't have the key written down somewhere, your only option is to contact Microsoft about obtaining a new key. In other words, you're probably out of luck.

As far as I know, the product key is never embedded on the CD. You may want to try finding it on a sticker on the side of your computer case or on the CD sleeve where the CD came in.
If you have proof of purchase you may want to try contacting Microsoft for a new key.

If you need a key to load ME simply search for Brian Carr. Go to his homepage and he has links to a 1000 or more keys from Windows 98 up through XP Pro.
