I'm not one to pat myself on the back, but a few years ago, one of my students came to school very upset. He told me that his mom took his brand new Air Jordans and sold them so she could buy crack. I knew he wasn't lying; everyone in the school knew about this kid's mother. So, on my lunch break, I asked the principal for permission to leave and I went to the mall and bought him another pair of shoes. I made sure that he received them and he never knew they were from me.

In some ways, that would be up to the people that I've tried to help, I guess. I don't have anything that just stands out

I have allowed a couple of people to live with me, but they were friends of mine and needed my help, so I don't know if that counted. I let one of them store their stuff here for awhile, and some of my furniture went bad out in the garage.

I listen to people that I love talk about their beliefs, and I know that if I give them my real opinion, I will disappoint them and sadden them, so I keep my mouth shut. After all, I really don't have all the answers to where we come from, anyway.

I've tried to befriend people that I normally wouldn't hang around with, but once people start talking to me, I can't help but be sensitive to what they are talking about, and have made some cool friends that way unintentionally. Actually that turns out to be a bonus for me...lol

I could probably think of more if I weren't in such a rush, but I like your question. It gives me some positive things to reflect on instead of the negative things I think about myself most of the time.
