I don't call it feeling sorry, I call it empathy for these people. I see many dying of cancer, heart disease and just worn out and it still is not easy. Anyone who deals with people have built a wall to help protect them mentally from all the bombardment of emotions. Unfortunately, that wall sometimes gets breached by a special case and it does effect us Health care people are not the cold hearted individuals some people think.

About two years ago, we had a one year old that mom had abused several times. We nicknamed him Roger Ramjet. The state took him away from mom and he done well. About 6 months after that, mom went to court and a liberal judge gave him back to mom.

I went into work one evening and could tell something was wrong. I ask a co-worker who had been crying and she said medic 12 brought in a code and he didn't make it. She then told me it was Roger Ramjet, and that his mother had beat him and he died of head injuries.

Even though I wasn't there, the emotions flooded out. All of us had taken him presents when he was in the hospital. All of us fell in love with this young man who did nothing but be born into this cruel world.

Yes, we hurt when people hurt, we cry when people die, and we go on to another day, trying to make things right with those we deal with.

Always. It only takes an instantaneous twist of fate and that could be you instead. And when it is you, and when you've been there, you know the suffering and can't help but feel compassion.

I often think that is why things happen to us, so that we can help others through just as we would want others to help us through.

Yes I do. I do what I can to help the people suffering. Prayer is a great source of comfort and strength to help us do what we can for them.

Of course. Suffering comes in many forms. I would not condone suffering or inflict suffering.
