Cover your hand in bubble wrap or sponge. Then it will no longer hurt so you wont do it anymore.

Instead of punching things maybe you can do something more constructive like a sport that helps you so you won't punch things. Maybe you should try to do kick-boxing or karate. If you don't have an anger problem then maybe do something else creative like draw or just listen to relaxing music. That always helps me. I hope that this really helps you and you can stop punching thing. If you ever need to talk just send me an email.

I say if you have to punch something do it. It is better than cutting yourself. Try punching something soft like a pillow so you won't hurt yourself. Punch it and punch it until you wear yourself out and the anger is gone.

Use the extra energy in solving the problem instead of letting it out anger with punching.

Try knitting, it sounds kinda dorky, but it will keep your hands busy when you have the urge to punch something. And its great you aren't cutting anymore. Rock on!

Go and see a doctor, you still seem to have a dangerous problem. Or you can tape your hands to your side.

Don't, don't don't, don't replace your habit with another bad one.
Don't move onto drugs, cutting, excessive eating, and such.
Go see a therapist, and they just might get you something to comfort yourself with. To release your anger.
Music, new hobbies etc etc.

a therapist is probably more qualified to answer this than i, but i find chewing on something, i.e., a toothpick. even if that does help, i still think a therapist would be good.
