Yes, unless the world supply of fuel dries up a lot earlier than expected, or Boeing and their pressure groups succeed in blocking the A380 from the US. The A380 shifts people long distances more efficiently than other aircraft and people want to travel and fuel costs will continue to rise. The Boeing argument is that people want to go to different places, so we should have more smaller planes, but they will cost more to fly on. For the long haul routes, life SFO to LHR, there just aren't the takeoff slots to allow 787s to replace 747s, much less A380s.

Airbus is just a little behind Boeing this year, mostly they've been ahead over recent years. The A380 and the A350 redesign just take some time to get right.

Unlikely. The delays on the 380 program will probably mean 5 years or so before ORD gets a flight. LAX and perhap JFK more likely. That doesnt even account for the extra construction needed to allow a 380 to land and park somewhere and deplane/board that many people at one time. Not enough traffic between ORD and MEX, so would not expect a 380 on that route at all.
