First of all about the philosophy hope in a jar,not for oily acne proned skin. Philosophy has a line for acne proned skin but its 35 dollars an ounce and pro-active works much better. I have the same skin as you have described. I have used everything and i would suggest you just get an oi-free,non-comedogenic moisturizer 2x a day. I have yet to find a moisturizer or great vitamin serum.I will tell you though you need to drink a gallon of water a day.I have been doing this(dermatologist recommended) for about 40 days now and my skin has become so much of a better texture,it would be dry but oily and just dull, now it glows.Of course a good skin regimen is good. You should cleanse 2x a day, then use a toner and moisturizer. This process works for me ,try the water too it makes a huge difference.

I too as well, have the same problem. I have oily skin, that breaks out during stressful times. Plus, it more prone to blemishes and scaring because I'm African American. I have found this product to be very good. It's mostly natural with a great deal of vitamins and nutrients. It's called:Rosehip Whip Moisturizer. It's by the company called Eminence Handmade Organic from Hungary. it really helps to calm the skin. Here is a link to the site. Page down to see the product called ROSEHIP WHIP MOISTURIZER. I hope this helps you?

I have the same problem along with some fine lines! I love Philosophy's Hope in a Jar. It's non-oily and is chock full of vitamins, peptides and other great things for your face. It soothes inflammation on the skin that acne causes and It makes your face look healthy without stripping it and making it dry and flaky . Really is worth a try!!!

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

The more natural the product the better. I mean, really understand and look at the label of ingredents. Look for alpha lipoic acid...a form of vit c. For dullness, make sure you are exfoliating the skin 2 times a week. A mask also helps, a clay based mask draws out toxins, giving you clearer skin...

IF you can afford to go to the dermatologist go. I wish I had done that when I was younger. It would have saved a lot of embarassment for me. Sometimes we put the wrong things on our face and they really can make them worse. Redness can be caused by a few things, you really want a doctor to look at your skin. It will be so much worth it!

Estee Lauder in the brown bottle night moisturizer is so really fantastic! It like rejuvenates my skin. If you go to a beauty counter at the high end stores, they should give you a free sample of it!
Drink water or powerade drinks, skip the coffee and caffeine drinks.
Get your 8 hours required sleep.

have you exfoliated your skin?
somtimes the dullness could be from a build up of dead skin
drinking lots of water is great for skin too, 35ml per kg you weigh is recomended
maybe your skin would benefit from a mini at home facial, cleanse, steam, scrub, mask, tone and moisturise
good luck
