you don't need antivirus... i use none... antivirus slows down your pc

I'm an IT Network Tech. Symantec Antivirus - the plain antivirus version - not ones with internet security or firewall or System Works. All you need is the regular antivirus. It will be cheaper that way and also take up less system resources.
McAfee sucks. I've seen Symantec detect more stuff.
Trend Micro is also decent but you probably won't find it in a store as readily - same rules apply though - try to just get the bare bones antivirus if you can - no bells and whistles.
Stay away from free versions. They don't charge people so I doubt they have the funds to stay on top of all the new viruses coming out like the bigger companies can - not worth the risk.

Like some of the answers to this question I aslo have used AVG but I've since found a better one. This is just as easy to use and will also update itself a couple times an hour. It's called Active Virus Shield....very nice and free program.

Fremen says he has two - use 1 antivirus per PC. MacAfee costs - AVG is either/or.
If ur high speed, 1 firewall.
AT LEAST 5 antispywares.
I run the latest AVG Free - free auto updating.

I use free AVG on one PC and Zone alarm security suite on the others. They are much less resource hungry than the norton Iused to use.

I like AVG cuz it caught some viruses that Norton didn't, & it's free.

PC Micro Trend Antivirus.It is easy to use updates regulary and is the best. I sell it at BestBuy.
