I saw a program on the discovery health channel about this little girl who had a serious illness that doctors misdiagnosed. But, some time later one of the nurses decided to double check hair head for ticks. And sure enough they found one! They said that ticks do indeed have venom!! And its supposedly similar to spider venom. This case happened in Georgia. The little girl got the tick from her dog. I assume that this may be why Lyme Disease can be mistaken for something else. But once the tick is removed recovery is almost instant. Still however, I think if anyone is bitten by a tick they should be tested for lyme disease just in case. The Atlanta suburbs are not far from me so. I am gonna make sure I protect mysel from these critters!

Its not so much venom, but they do secrete an anasthetic so you won't feel the puncture wound they make. The sickness comes from spyroketes in the blood the tick shares with you while it feeds on you.

Ticks don't have venom, but they can infect you and possibly kill you.
