My brother is getting married and his fiance would like me in the wedding. I wear anywhere from a size 32-36. The color theme is blue. I am trying to help my brother's fiance select dresses that will look ok on me but also versatile enough for her skinny bridesmaids. What is the best way to approach this? Have her choose a style and then have it replicated for me by a dressmaker? Any sites out there that have such large size dresses? I'm more of an apple shape what is a good style for this?

Try igigi.com - they have a Bridal boutique as well as dressy dresses and fit sizes 14-32. The quality is great and the prices are pretty good. You could also try David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo and pick a color (or various shades in the same family), but let each maid pick the dress that flatters them. Another option is eBay - some of the sellers are actual bridal shops and you can get great deals. Just make sure the seller has a high feedback score and check the return policy before buying. Good luck!

Calito seems to be the only company that carries dresses in all those size ranges. They have some beautiful dresses so that's good. As far as I can tell Davids Bridal sizes only go up to 26. Alfred Angelo carries sizes 2-28W. I recommend an a-line dress NOT an empire waist. An empire waist will make you look pregnant. I think the one I listed below would be the most flattering and you can wear a real bra with it.

I just opened a new online custom bridal shop! If you have a pic of a dress you want, I can do it for you! All the dresses we do are custom made, so we can do any size you want!

Check out the site too, I have some styles! A lot of them on the site may not be what you are looking for, but I do have pics of the style you are describing.

If the bride hasn't made any decisions on dresses for the bridesmaid then maybe you could start looking for something you know you would look good in, and show her. I had my maids do that because mine went from skinny to apple shaped. Finally we all decided that as long as everyone was the same color, length, and similar style and cut, it was fine. In the end, everyone got something they liked that fit their shape and they each looked unique without looking to different. Maybe that would be an idea for you to take to the bride

Look for an A-line dress, somewhat modest in covering the cleavage, and wide, modest shoulder straps so you can wear a regular bra.

Are you supposed to go pick out your own dress, just in the color the bride specified? Check Alfred Angelo and David's Bridal for many decent plus size options (though I am personally not a big fan of David's Bridal, quality-wise).

Macy's and Davids Bridal carry a wide variety of plus size dresses that are also available in small sizes. I mean the style they carry, they have all sizes.

There are many websites that sell plus size dresses. Also, David's Bridal has beautiful plus size dresses and they are not grandma-like dresses.
