I have tried taking ibprophen for the pain but it doesn't seem to work. This pain keeps me up most of the night. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Based on the way you describe it, I don't believe you have a heart condition. Sounds more like a pinched nerve in your neck causing the pain into your arm.

Try this: Firmly grasp the meaty part of the back of your neck between the palm of your hand and the flat surfaces of your fingers (in other words...not the tips). Hold that grip for about a minute, then release SLOWLY. Using the same grip, grasp the muscles running between each side of your neck and the top of your shoulders (called the trapezius muscles). If you find any relief, you are probably dealing with a pinched nerve.

If so, try some sessions with a chiropractor and/or a massage therapist. If you find no relief, check with your doctor.

There's a lot of questions that need to be answered before a proper assessment can be made. How long have you been having this pain? Do you know of anything that could have triggered it? Did you do anything strenuous? Or even a repetitive motion? Repetitive motions can lead to strain or tendonitis which can be quite painful, and would explain the discomfort when putting on shirts. How old are you? Are you within a healthy weight range for your age and height? Any history of heart disease in your family? Have you ever had an eating disorder? These questions pertain more specifically to your heart to determine if that is the source of your discomfort. If it is heart-related, best to seek medical attention immediately. Hope that helps... with a little more information on your symptoms maybe I can tell you more.

You haven't provided us with enough detail and, in any event, we aren't doctors ... at least, most of us aren't.

Most likely you aren't having a stroke, heart attack or anything else dangerous, but if this pain was sudden onset and for no apparent reason, it's best to have the scary stuff ruled out ASAP.

Are you left-handed or do you mouse with your left hand? It could be a repetitive motion injury. It might also be a pinched nerve. Only your doctor can tell you for certain.

To get you through the night, consider heat or ice.

i have that too! i work as a cashier and using my left arm its weaker than the other.
my dad used to have it too. they called it "frozen arm" or something like that. bascially like the muscles are glued together and they can't move very well without hurting, so he had to go to physical therapy and they slowly worked on his arm til it could move better. he is 59 and has worked a long time in a factory.

Go see a doctor. If you can't take appointment with your family doctor or can't see the walk in doctor, go to emergency room and get treatment there. I hope you will feel better soon!

Chiropractic can help. Drugs will only mask the pain.
