My Nissan Sentra GXE 2002 today started and then died...so I am not sure if it is the battery. It is extremely windy and cold here (Maryland 10/28/06 a/b 7:30pm), but does that have anything to do with it? I distinctly remember turning the headlights off...but I may not have, though I'm so positive I did...any other possibilities? It was working fine yesterday. It lights up, no engine, then goes dark. Light's are dim if anything. Overhead light dims/brightens, doesn't stay the same as normally does. Help! Thank you :)

I just remembered, I went out this afternoon and the lights were on but I was positive I had turned them off. It was about 1:30PM.

Thank you paranoida and John Paul. John Paul I remember getting a notice about that a couple years ago, and I remember specifically because that was the only notice I've ever gotten that was like that, aside from the general mileage service notices....this was a recall notice and I remember the ECM thingie. Thanks! I realy hope it's not that....:)

Actualy if jump starting does not do it! See your Nissan dealer. The 2002 year Sentra had issuses with the Engine Control Module covered by eight year eighty thousand miles warranty. Rapid changes in temps, moisture causes internal failure of the ECM which most likely causes the fuel pump not to run and listen carefully the fuel pump relay in the left kick panel to clicks rapidly sometimes.

sounds like the battery/ alternator. its usually harder for a car to start when its extremely cold. you should have someone put the battery on a charger for a while and drive it to an advance auto parts where they can test the battery and altenator for free. they'll tell you what to do afterwards, hopefully its the battery, nissan altenators are kinda pricey
