You unistalled it in the wrong order. First, you have to go to 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel. Then look for a program called 'McAfee Unistaller' and remove it from there.

If you don't have the 'McAfee Unistaller' then you should've tried unistalling the 'VirusScan' and 'Firewall' first before unistalling the 'Security Center'. You probably already messed up the registry by using third-party unistallers like ccleaner.

If you're using System Restore try restoring to a few days back when McAfee was running correctly and then try my suggestions again.

Before using system restore have you found it in the programs on the start menu? If so is there an uninstall option? Or if not you could look in program files folder on your C drive. In the mcafee folder there is bound to be an uninstall file.
I might add though that you would be crazy to leave your PC unprotected from virus checker and firewall.

For most anti virus programs you need a special uninstall program from the producer of the program.
You can disable it meanwhile by taking it out of the startup programs, and then restarting the computer.

IF you still have the disks, reinstall it.
Then boot to safe mode and uninstall it.
If you try using third party applications, like Registry Cleaner, to remove it, it will mess up your system. I guess you discovered that the hard way.
Most third party applications like that are bogus.
