I was friends with a girl who would be whatever her current boyfriend was. When we first met she was little Miss Rocker chick.. then she dated some guy who liked rap, and all of a sudden Ludacris was her favorite guy. Another girl I know will change all of her interests for her boyfriends. Why do people do this? Is it insecurity? I am me, and don't change for people. I like metal music, love animals, and hate sports. I have never changed that for anyone. Opinions? Comments?

I knew someone like that. It must either be insecurity, or that they don't really have a "thing" of their own anyway.
I don't change, but I have been open to experiencing new hobbies and interests- just not glomming onto them like some people do.

Its more selfishness on the man's part I think. These girls really don't have much in common with "their man" and the boys won't meet the girls halfway. I know women who take up watching car races (after not having an interest for 30+ years), hiking (when they're really prissy indoorsy types), etc. There's nothing wrong with chicks liking Nascar, but not to please a man.

You'll most likely find that the significant other won't do anything that the girl likes to do. She might like museums and he says, "forget it." Or she likes football and he likes hockey and they only go to hockey games. She takes up his interests in order to share with him at least on some level.

They end up losing their identities and its certianly not worth it. I think its fine if I go to a baseball game with my man as long as he goes shopping with me and doesn't ***** the whole time!

She's not changing anything but learning to like those things that her significant other likes.
That's music and people grow to enjoy all types of music, get exposed to it by the new people in their life. If you close yourself to everything else that's out there, you learn nothing new.
She sounds cool. You sound closed to new things and unbending to new ideas. Well, good luck with that. But, youre not alone.

You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince. Just find out who you are and be that delightful, honest happy person. There will be someone out there who fits you like a glove, love.

Sadly, these folks are chameleons that change to adapt to whoever they are with...I say "sadly" because they have no idea of who they really are.
