Not without a vet's consent! There could be something wrong with the leg, and your vet could pick out the right stuff.

First off let me say that the only treatment I would approve for your cat is an examination by a veterinarian to assess the damage to his leg and hopefully "fix" it. If the vet feels your cat is in pain he will give him an injection for that.

One pain medication you can have in your home "veterinary" medicine chest is Arnica at 30C dosage. Three times a day for no more than three days. You must get this at a pharmacy that carries homeopathic remedies. My vet just approved this for my cat who has a painful back injury.

Another item to have in your veterinary medicine chest is Rescue Remedy a mixture of five Bach flower essences. This cannot harm an animal and has an essence for pain in it, also shock, trauma, fear etc. which your cat has certainly suffered as a result of the dog attack. The RR is usually available in heath food stores.

If you want to kill him, go ahead. Don't be so cheep and take him to the vet. He probably has some nerve damage. My cat got hit by a car, and had nerve damage in her hind legs and tail and recovered fully in about a month. Keep him inside, or in a secure kennel cage outside with a litter box and blanket. Feed him high protein foods like cooked chicken or liver. Make sure he drinks. The vet may give him a liguid pain reliever. Usualy the visit should cost about $60 with an xray to check for broken bones.

Hi Missy...it is very dangerous to give pet animals any human medications unless prescribed by a vet as it could be very lethal. Since your cat is in pain you truly do need to contact a vet to discuss proper treatment if necessary they will prescribe appropriate pain medication to help him. His injuries could require more than pain management if especially if there's any internal injuries.

NO, you really should call your vet, the cat could need x-rays or simply antibiotics to prevent infections, they will know how much to give your cat by weight and the severity of his wounds.
