I have two kids as well. He has never made them do any type of chores. I have made them do very simple things like put their own clothes away after I fold them and pick up after themselves and feed and walk their dogs. I know I am new in their home but is it wrong of me to enforce these rules.

No. It is not wrong for you to enforce the rules in "their" home. Dont you think it is time to call it your home since you are living there and doing their laundry etc....

Well sometimes kids do not know how to express their feelings. So they do things that they wanted do on daily basies. If you spend time eith them by yourself they will get to know as a person you really are. They don't know you and they don't want to know you until you know them that you care. This is a big step for you because having a dad taking care of kids can be hard. They don't know what to do. That is when a girl can step in and help as well.So try and spend so time with them or as much time as you can get with them. Sometimes it helps if you do things they would like to do.

The house has become your home now. You are not eating bons bons while they are cleaning the stove, so having small chores are good for kids. It will give them a sense of responsiblity and care for their things. Your helping him parent his children, just like he will help you parent yours, it called partnership...It sounds good to me..

Might as well teach them. The housework is now your responsibility. Get him to back you up.
