To put it in the simplest terms, a viral infection is caused by a virus, and bacterial is cause by bacteria. Bacterial infections are easier to cure (with anti-biotics) because of their cell structure. However, viral infections are much harder to cure due to their cells being resistant to medications. The anti-viral meds we have today are not always strong enough to fight viruses. Viral infections usually go away on their own, for example the stomach flu is sometimes a virus, which means that sleep and lots of liquids can help it go away sooner. HIV is also a virus, and as you know, we don't have a cure for that yet because wecan't find meds strong enough to combat a virus of this type.

Viral infection is caused by a virus and antibiotics have no affect on the virus. Bacterial infection, are caused by some form of bacteria, and antibiotics can usually kill the bad bacteria in your system.
Forgive me, "But to the Lady that has Kids", both viral and bacteria infections are spread in the same manner. No difference. No exception. HIV/AIDS is a virus, you don't catch this through the air.

The biggest differance between virus and bacteria is that a virus has to run it's course and cannot be combatted with antibiotics. But, bacteria can be killed with a dose of antibiotics. The most common examples would be common cold vs. strep throat

VIruses invade the blood cells and live on the inside of the cell. They are inside the cell wall and are much smaller than bacteria. The cell is the host for the virus and they cannot live outside the cell. This is why they are difficult to identify is because they hide inside of the cells and use the cell to survive.
Bacteria are on the outside of the cell and much bigger than viruses. They float around outside of the cells and are much easier to identify.
