I have just registered for VAT, but its from 25-08-2006, following that date I made purchases, I kept the receipts for my accounts, but have been reading up on VAT, & it says I should have asked for a VAT INVOICE, Its too late to ask for one onw, so what will happen, am i aloud to use normal receipts

Your receipts need to have a VAT number on them - with things like getting petrol you have to ask for a VAT receipt - most receipts have it on - but it's best to ask whenever you buy anything for your business for a VAT receipt.

Yes as long as the receipt contains the VAT number of the shop.It does not have to say what you purchased, but the customs and Excise will ask you when they do a vat check, so write on the back of the receipt what it was for.

as long as there vat number on it just work out what u paid in vat or ask an accountant it only takes a phone call they will tell u free

u can claim back vat from the previous year before u became registered if i remember correctly. ask ur accountant.
