Would YOU want to go back??? The U.S. has made many enemies there, the heat is attrocious, the sand fleas will eat you alive, the food and water that is supplied by the military is undrinkable, and buying your own from Halliburton is very expensive, plus, you get shot at, bombed, sunburned, and many die there because of the heat alone! Plus, the entire war is about oil, and profits for the ultra rich, like G.W. Bush, and his cronies. This is a no brainer. Would you want to die so that the rich can make a huge profit? I wouldn't, and I am former military myself. Hope this helps.

ok, first of all what are you talking about i hate liberals? do you even know? why dont you read up on your history and maybe you'll think twice before you speak. how can you even say we're winning the war when yea we may have "captured" their leader but are you joking the whole reason was for osama bin laden and where the hell is he? no one even knows. i mean did you forget that the whole point was for osama bin laden and it's like well if we can't get him we might as well get saddam. and there's so much corruption in this new government in Iraq it looks like it will be impossible to establish a solid democracy. It's sad that a lot of people believe what they are told but will we ever really know? no because we are thankfully not inside the mind of GB Jr. But I am very sorry for the Marines and Army men that are going through this. They were told they would only have to do a certain amount of time and their tours are being extended sometimes 2 or 3 times. I mean these people have families too that they want to get home to. It's unfair. Also, a lot of people only join the army so they can pay for college and instead they get sent over there to risk their lives.

I was in Afghanistan a year ago and would gladly go back. However, Selfridge is not an active duty Air Force base. THerefore, the people who are deploying from there are leaving their jobs, school, and family behind. Yes, I left my family behind when I deployed, but I am full time active duty Air Force and since this is my job and number one priority, I had no problem going. I made a lot of money. NO smart person would get sunburned...we weren't allowed to ever be out of uniform (as in, my arms were NEVER exposed let alone enough of me to sunburned...even our ears are covered...). The sandflies did suck but if you are in the military and signing on to "go to war" I think that sandfleas are a minor nusence. People don't want to go to Iraq for the same reason that my little sister doesn't want to go to school. And she begs all the time to get out of it.

lets get real.the perception is that the war is being won.fair enough.you would expect that from the home team.but uh oh look!when you get soldiers on the gound saying they had enough, then you know what ? that means the war has already been lost.its over and the soldiers know it.we know it .so who are we kidding?how long must the charade go on?if they can not see that the desire to fight has waned in some of the troops then they havent browsed the web recently.and once the desire wanes in some, its like a cancer in the body.reaching finally all involved.can you say vietnam?

..Has anyone EVER wanted to go into war? Sorry to spoil the only Liberal campaign most Americans would vote for, The war is wrong/we're loosing the war ect.. But yeah were not and its not. We went in, took out their leader, took out their military, established a Democracy..Met ALL of our goals. Sorry but, we've already won. Now were just staying in Iraq until their military gets built up (In less than 2 years it will be ready) to take control of the extremest

On my base and in my plt there is a very small % of Marines that dont want to go or go back. One base (especially an air force base) doest speak for the Marines or the Army.

Because they don't want to die for this cause.
What is happening in your town is not an isolated incident. Many troops do not want to go back to Iraq, especially given that they don't support the reason we are over there in the first place. Over 70% of Iraqi's people don't want us there, and at least 60% think it's ok to kill Americans. What exactly are we fighting for. I continue to be astounded by those who refer to this war as a success. What have we succeeded in? We have killed innocent civilians, we have lost thousands of our own troops, and we have incited a whole new group of terrorists that hate us. I don't blame them for not wanting to go back.
The brave soldiers that do go, go because the have a great sense of honor and duty, and they should be commended for it.

A lot of people are coming back from Iraq and they have seen many things that have been very hard for them. They had to be very careful every day because their life was at risk constantly. When they come back most of them are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and getting adjusted to a life where they live is not easy.

I think they're saying "the war is wrong" is just an excuse to justify their not wanting to go. I was there for a year and I don't want to go back because I'd miss my family. No excuses and no false justifying. It's the plain and honest to God truth. If they said I have to go I would go, but my heart would stay with my wife and children.

You have hundreds of Army and Marine personnel at a National Guard Airbase?? Hmmm I doubt that. The actual percentage is probably much lower than you think. Do you want to pay taxes? NOPE! Do you tell people you don't want to pay taxes? Probably so! Do I want to leave my girlfriend for a year for any reason? NOPE!! Do I want to leave my family for a year for any reason? NOPE again? Do I want to go somewhere for a year where the average temp is well over 100 degrees? Not really! Will I go if my country tells me to? HELL YES!!
