maybe they didn't have the money to pay for those outrageous vet bills ,still they should have just said they were broke , but then when they say that they r told they can't help them , so ya it just sucks all the way around , too bad vets don't have a payment plan , people would probably take thier pets to the vet more often

That poor kitty! What horrible, irresponsible humans her people have turned out to be. Some people just don't realize that a cat is a living, feeling creature that deserves to be loved and cared for until the end. And, if the end must come in the form of euthanasia, the humans need to be there to give the final word, say goodbye and comfort the kitty. (Or dog. Same principles apply.)
I don't know how anyone with a heart and soul could abandon a poor, beautiful creature like that. Maybe some people just don't have any feelings or are too selfish to care about anyone other than themselves.

Hi Rabid
I am sorry that you had to be put in this position, I understand how you are feeling (I too worked at a Vet Hospital for 8 yrs), I have seen this many times and it always reinforces why I like animals better than most people. I wish I could explain how this kind of person thinks, however, I cannot. This is a very very sad situation for this kitty., I am so sorry for her.
Do you have an address on the owner? (or did they use a phony address too?), do your client/pet information forms require a Drivers License # or Social Security Number?, you may be able to track them down that way.
Good luck to you and this little kitty, God Bless you both.

Unfortunately, the best and simplest answer is that people suck. They might have thought that they would get in trouble for neglect or mis-treatment, with the condition the poor kitty is in. They may also not understand the laws in your state (or maybe they do) and if you can't contact them, knowing how truly sick she is, you will do what you can and it's free to them. If she makes it, all the better, and you'll find another home for her. If not, then you'll dispose of her, again for free, and they have nothing to worry about. This kind of situation is why I am not able to do the work that you do. At least they left her with someone that will try and make her as comfortable as possible and not die alone truly abandoned. I admire you for your dedication to the furry kind, and I hope you don't lose your faith. Don't give up! Really good people are out here.

I truly cant believe someone can do that. there is a lot of crazy people in this world and they do crazy things the we cant explain. if they wont come back for the cat they were probobly people who dont care fo the cat. if they will come back then mabey they were afraid to come to the hospital and see the cat dead. but why is the cat like that in the first place? i think its because they prob. didnt take care of him as a owner should take care of the cat. did you try to call the 3 contact numbers and try to get them? if u did and they never answered or called back they prob. dont care for the cat. by what you told me im almost positive they just left the cat alone with no food and water and then brought the cat to you. this is realy horible. why people do this, well no one will know why people can do such bad things. they were prob afraid to meet you because of the situation of the kitty. well, i hope they call. and i feel so bad for the cat. im a real animal lover!

I wish i knew the answer to this one, more than any other. I am not a rich man, not even considered middle class. But, I have 3 dogs and a cat who now has babies on board. I could never abandon any of them and make sure they are feed and watered at all times. Some people look at the ones they love as pets. I look at mine as family. I wish very much I could be there to hold this cat until the end, maybe just to show it that someone really cares... I respect you highly for what you do, and God bless you my friend.

I'm guessing they knew it was sick and figured you would take care of it since they coudnt afford to. People do the same thing with kids.. we had a migrant couple leave thier down syndrome baby at the hospital..... and being illegals.. there was no way to track them. poor kid will prol live in foster care forever, but is getting better care than the parents could offer. I say file a police report... if they do show back up, they can be prosecuted or you can sue to recover yoru money. Does this fall under animal cruelty laws in your state?
We had to have our cat put down9 years ago from kidney failure.. poor guy, still miss him.

Cause pepole are cruel to anmails and dont know or dont care about takeing care of their pets . And they have no heart . That really gets me mad . That someone would do that kind of stuff to anmails . That's sick and cruel. It broke my heart to hear this about that poor cat . I hope you find who ever did that to the cat and I hope they get thrown in jail for anmails cruelity . And I hope they stay in jail for a long time . And for all the pepole who will be cruel like that to a anmails.Pepole like that shouldn't have pets in the first place , before they get a pet they should take care of it and take it to the vet , so it will be happy and healthy . Pepole are so sick.

I am shocked and feel such sadness for the poor cat. For every five irresponsible pet owners I see but one caring, responsible owner who does everything to get their pet treated properly - they make calls, borrow money, throe a garage sale, beg their freinds and relatives to help... only yesterday i saw this ad on craigslist put up by a desparate pet owner begging everyone and anyone to BUY something from her (she was putting a great deal of the contents of her house for sale) to raise $2000 for the surgery her newly adopted dog needed.
Unfortunately, so may more pet owners do not want to face financial responsibility when something happens to their pet. Its soooo sad.

Sorry to hear about that poor kitty. Euthanasia is the best for her now. Evidently, the people that dropped her off like that knew it was a crime, hence the wrong numbers etc. It makes me sick that they even let her get that far....she's been suffering way too long. Please put her out of her misery so that she can go to the Rainbow Bridge.

Oh, my gosh!! That's horrible! I know what you mean. Everytime I hear a story like this, I thank goodess that I was born a good person and raised up as a good person. I can't believe that some people are as horrible as that. I hope kitty's okay. Make sure you give her some MAJOR TLC (Tender loving care), that's the best medicine.
