near onions?
I've tried peeling them underwater but the smell of onions is so strong that my eyes still water!
My husband can peel onions without any problems at all, but if he is in the kitchen and I am in the back bedroom, my eyes will water!
I guess my eyes just don't like onions!

Next time you are cutting or near an onion.

try putting your fingers under cold water, even wet the onion in cold water.

I'm the same way. Sometimes I have to stop cutting them because I cannot see for all the tears. I have to get my husband to finish chopping them up for me. Sometimes if he wants to help out when I'm cooking a big dinner. I tell him to chop the onions and green peppers, etc.

Yes, it drives me nuts! Your husband must wear contacts. That protects his eyes. Beside using a chopper, I find that keeping a damp paper towel near me and dabbing my eyes when needed helps.
