my girls spent the night with the sitter and today she called and said that my oldest Cassie (age 8) threw up, she said she was fine when she got up this morning and most of the day, she said that it is not forceful, that Cassie will cough hard like she is trying to get something up and then throw up mucus stuff, other than this the sitter says that Cassie says she feels fine, does this sound like the flu.

That does not sound like the flu to me. It sounds more like a case of food poisoning, or food allergy. It should pass in a day or two. Sometimes kids can get what is commonly known as the "stomach flu" which is a little virus that upsets the stomach in the same way as food poisoning, and goes away after a day or two. If the thing persists for longer, consult a physician.

It doesnt really sound like the flu to me because the only symptom she is having is throwing up. It could be just something she ate. But it could still be early stages of the flu if she is just starting to cough. I think that you should just keep an eye on here and check her temp. See what happens if more symptoms show up take her to her doc.
