i would say that they are fairly reliable, i also haven't heard anything bad against them. probably pretty good gas mileage, city. it's not like it's a ford or anything:)....i only heard that they are too small on the inside, so if your a taller person you may feel a bit cramped.....but it's not like it's a metro size and it does have pretty good horsepower...so i say reliable sure why not:) good luck

Oh my God. Neon's are horrible. Do not buy one if you cannot afford to have it repaired quite often. I had a Plymouth Neon a few years ago. When I bought the car it was only a year old and I kept it for two years.
1.The brakes went out within a week.
2.The stereo was stolen just a couple months later because they are very easy cars to brake into.
3.The gasket was stripped and I had to replace that and it was very expensive.
4.The air conditioner died and I live in Oregon where I only use A/C 2-3 months out of the year.
5.Battery died twice.
The car would also vibrate if I drove over 45 MPH which really got on my nerves.

Read some of the questions on here about them. One girl was just asking if anyone has any problems with the wires in the dash burning.....??!?!

Personal experience.. had one for a rental car.. died 1hr out of the city.. 25000km on it. Have a friend, has had his 10+ yrs, over 250000km, still going. Another friend.. his is 6 yrs, been through just as many starters..

The choice is ultimately yours, just do your research first.

These are terrible cars. The body shop gave me a 2001 with 50000 miles on it and the engine was sputtering, the wheel bearings where howling, the tranny was shifting rough, and trim was falling off. Yeah its a loaner, but the other loaner (Mazda Protege) was older and had more miles was in way better shape.

Never

I personally have known some friends with them and they never had any problems,I do know on the older ones that ther was some type of coolant hose that rubbed on the hood that could go out and that would suck.

They're good cars if you get the ones with manual transmissions, I would steer clear of the automatics.
