*I believe garbage and recycling works pretty well. We've also got a compost pick up in place.
*School board, well, could always be better. Schools are underfunded, extra-curricular programs no longer exist. Some schools have their music programs shut down, others have their pools drained. Not enough money to keep everything going, everywhere. Hopefully our new Mayor will do something about that.
*Roads are constantly a problem. There are always repairs going on somewhere. The gardiner expressway is a hot topic these days, wether or not to get rid of it.
*Parks and Rec programs are still around, although as with everything else, could be improved by better funding.
*Libraries are fabulous. Most have computer and internet access, as well as childrens' programs.
*Public Transit is another issue that could be taken care of with Moo-Lah. They always seem to be short on this, short on that, and the fare increases accordingly. It's $2.75 one way.
*The police have been doing well. Their crackdown on gang activity has uncovered many illegal businesses (weapons, drugs, prostitution). They could use more $.
*Ambulances are good. They are not the problem. It's having an emergency room with room enough to take you.

How to solve the problem? Well I believe I said it more than a few times - MONEY! It is hard to convince the Federal government that this city would be more efficent if it had some more funding kicked our way. Not to mention utilizing our tax dollars in better ways. It all comes down to our elected officials, and recently, we haven't been voting the way we should. Hope people get out there and give a fresh face a chance representing our city.

I'd say roads need to be fixed. School Board funding is cut short. Many people throw recycling in the trash, Toronto's trash needs to be shipped elsewhere because we have no room. Public Transit Frauds, with Tickets and tokens. Crime rate is on the rise, due to importing of guns.

having just returned to the UK from a trip that took in Toronto as part of the deal

I have to say that impatience and rudeness of commuters, agressive and dangerous driving on the highways and the slow service whenever you have to buy anything (subway tickets etc)

OH and before i forget - WHY DO YOU NEED TO KEEP SHIPPING YOUR 'LANDFILL' IE YOUR RUBBISH TO MICHIGAN? your country is bigger than the whole of the us and is far less populated too - so cant you find your own landfill sites inside your own borders?

on the up side - the cn tower very clean and hospitiable IF you like heights, the toronto islands were fantastic and folks who worked with the public were very efficient and helpful, taxi drivers were brilliant too.

I dont think that there are any issues concerning what you listed in Toronto. There is on gigantic problem, though: gang murders. If i were to figure out a way to solve this,it would take me the next hour and a half, and i only have 5 minutes. sorry.
