I am considering adopting a maltipoo or shihpoo from a friend. I am wondering if anyone knows about their termpermant. Are they rather melow? I live in a condo and I am hoping they will not turn out to be too barky. There is not much information online about these breeds and I would love to know what are people's first hand experience with these mix breeds? Thank you

Poodles tend to be barkers as do most toy breeds, it's their nature, they where bred to be protect their companions. The only way to get an idea on their temperment is by asking the breeder how their dogs are. If you can go and see the parents, if they are nasty then chances are the pups will display some of the same behavors.

There's no info on them because they're not breeds, they're mutts. You need to look up the temeraments of maltese, poodles, and shih tzus to find out what kind of temperament a combination of these might possibly have. Since all three breeds are rather yappy, a cross breed mixed with any of them would be too.

With any mixed breed their temperament (like everything else about them) is a crap shoot. You need to remember that IF either parent had been a good example of it's respective breed, it would NEVER have been used to produce a mixed breed litter.

It's a gamble. My brother in law has a Shi poo and she is lovely. But my friend has one and he bites everyone who comes near his people. Sometimes they get the gentle Shi-tzu gene and sometimes they get the snitty poodle gene.
