for all of us to speak to each other about anything except religion and be able to get along? Is religion the determining factor as to whether or not you want to talk to someone or do you think you could find commonality in other areaes if you had no idea what religion they were?

I think if we would just understand that there is truth, it is written in the Bible and other ideas which are opinions should be just prefaced with this is what I think or I felt God explained it to me like this then that would go a long way towards making a more harmonios place here. I even state what the Bible says as thats what the Bible says and when doing that I am not saying to an atheist they must accept that statement. We have free will for a reason,, that's my opinion..

I think maybe a person could have got along with all kinds of people a while ago but, today there is too many divisive factors that prohibit close friendships with people who are on an opposite platform than yours. I mean issues that are in the news every day and effect ones life every day.

As a teenager I had a church leader hurt me quite badly through his misuse of scripture.

As an adult we ended up serving together on the board of a Christian charity.

I will not lie and say we became friends, but we did talk and truly hear each other for the first time. We were also able to work together to further the work we came together to do.

i think that if everyone were truly secure and faithful in their religions that they would not find reason to try to make other people beliefe exactaly as they do.

i have friends from just about every religion that i know of.
we can all sit and talk and have fun together and never even have to mention religion. but if we decide to talk phiolosphy we can do it in a civil manner. it all comes down to respect for your fellow man.

now i have a brother that cannot do this, he actually tried to beat the light of god into me in a literal sense. that angle did not work well for him.

All ism's will die off because they are putting self first. They are all me centered, Judaism, Islamism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Zaoism, Taoism, etc. etc. etc. True Christianity or the Jesus Religion will remain because it is other centered.
It puts you first. As we hurtle towards oblivion and cataclysmic destruction. Inertia, profusion and acceleration are pushing us forward to the end of days and close of time. People are crying out for human beings to intervene with human compassion, human dignity, human concern and human help.

In as mush as a little bit of religion is like a little bit of syphilis, unless eradicated, it always gets worse, I'm afraid religionists will not like what must be done to marginalize them and protect Humanity from letting them fulfill their silly prophesies to end the world, as their religions teach must occur.

If you refuse to talk to someone because of Religion, Ethnic Background, Color of Skin or Political Beliefs etc. Its called Bigotry. Will Bigotry ever be gone from this earth. I doubt it.

Yes...it certainly is possible to find commonality..and for me, the best way to start is with a smile....people respond to eye contact and a cheerful face....in every language.

Religion AND politics.

I think the two of them are both equally capable of causing unrest between two otherwise agreeable people.
