Why do Catholics worship other people and say prayers to other people? Isn't there suppose to be one God? Arn't we only suppose to pray to that one God?

Why, because they don't read the Bible for themselves, they count on someone else to tell them what is written......Yes, there is but One God.

Catholics do not worship others besides God. They do, however, pray to others, such as Mary and the Saints.

There is a difference. The prayers to Mary and the Saints specifically ask that Mary and/or the Saints pray FOR the person. It is assumed that since they are already gone before that they are closer to God than us. And therefore, they can intercede with God on behalf of the pray-er.

Just as you ask your living friend to pray for you, you ask these Saints to pray for you. No difference. It is not worship.

We do not worship anybody but God .However we revere people like Mary and she is known 'as the Mother of God' because her son is truly God. We make intercessions through Mary taking inspiration from the miracle at Cana(it was Mary who told Jesus that the wedding couple had run out of wine). We also make intercessions through patron saints;I always asked mum to ask dad for pocket money(not that dad was a bad guy). Miracles have already been worked in the name of people like Mother Theresa .

No, Catholics worship no one but God.

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.

Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.

With love in Christ.

Only a fool would prevent someone who attained heaven from sharing his "techniques" with others still in the "pipeline" ... and God is no fool.

Everyone who is admitted to heaven is still allowed to help other souls get there, too.

It has nothing to do with worship, only common sense.

Christ's work of salvation isn't done yet, and every soul is precious to God.

It's only logical for him to empower other holy souls to help.

Read the Book of Revelation about "he who overcomes" and you'll see several different rewards and empowerments that God has promised to all who overcome the world through him.

Catholics pray to other who are considered "saints" by the church. These saints are asked to intercede on their behalf towards God. By the way, in most Christian, including Catholic, God is one in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I guess it's like asking you brother or sister to help you ask your parents for something. I'm not sure about the origin or anything.

they don't worship others - they respect them, the honor them like they would a beloved family member. if we ask people to pray for us while we are alive and believe that when people die they are in heaven and live with God, then why can't their prayers still be powerful and heard.

There is only one God. Yes, he has others with him but he is all one. Jesus and the holy spirit which is the trinity. You can only get to God through jesus christ. Catholics says they intercede than they intercede I guess. Interceding is taught in christianity too. It's just someone praying for you. Hey jesus prays for you in heaven.

The Catholic party line is that they "venerate" the saints, of which Mary is one: venerate ( ) tr.v. , -ated , -ating , -ates . To regard with respect, reverence, or heartfelt deference. Critiques call this attention cultism. Much of the ritual is pre-christian and the "Virgin Cult" may have presidents in things like Vestal Virgins, or goddess worship.
