1. Evolution is even lab tested with fruit flies in Berkeley University and around the world.
2. Fossil records of humanids and animals evolving throughout history (fossils are like snapshots in time).
3. DNA sequencing proving that we are indeed from earlier apes (not modern apes like some Christians like to play with but once again don't know anything about science).
4. People and animals evolving still today.
5. Neanderthal man, Lucy, etc.
You can't have any more proof than these unless you were able to live forever from the beginning and witness the events yourself. Now can you show us your God in person? Some things you can never prove:
1. That a God exists.
2. That is it 'your' God.
3. That Nature isn't the creator alone.
4. That there is not more than one God.
Good luck...lol
Now please explain why you believe in the invisible God and not evolution.

wow i read some of these answers and got kind of confused... When did christians believe in the evolution theory? to be a true christian you're suppose to go by the book, called the "bible" and i'm 100% sure that there wasn't evolution in there. Second, yes we do have evidence about evolution (look up tiktaalik, it's a fish that evolved into an animal with 4 legs) which in a way disproves christianity, BUT not of a god.

In fact, someone had to make something so it would evolve (in this case bacteria) ...of course if you go with the theory that we all came from bacteria, that still doesn't disprove a god or gods, just the most popular religions... oh and what is interesting is that nasa found evidence of bacteria growing in one of the outer planet's moons, but i forgot which one... well i think that's interesting. sorry for my rambling.

Your number 1 point to back evolution is the fruit fly project??!!

The fruit fly project always produced fruit flys never a new species as evolution proposes. True there were changes but these were mutations. Fruit flys always produce fruit flys. But you know what had to be present to get those mutations in the laboratory? Intelligent Design (i.e. the scientist conducting the experiment).

As far as the fossil record goes, the one thing that it always shows is that everything dies, everything ends in death. Evolution also proposes that things all the way back in the beginning were small, teeny, tiny, microscopic prior to being nothing at all.

So answer this: How can anything and everything that you see before you be created (or evolve) from nothing at all? Think about it. You have absolutely nothing to work with. Not even light to see by.

Can absolutely nothing evolve?

Atheists don't believe in God but be rest assured that God believes in atheists.

Actually you might be quite surprised to learn that evolution is not as well proven as many think. The lab tests have had some results but none that prove any conclusive results. They always open the can of worms that is R.N.A and D.N.A. The biggest problem is that there is one constant - Life comes from life! It is unavoidable and hasn't been proven otherwise. As for the fossil record, I'm afraid this is a issue that scientist would prefer to go away. It doesn't on any level support a theory of gradual change within the species that lead to a mass populous change. True, mutations have occurred but as we all know mutations are negative and high-breads are always sterile. As for neanderthal, respectfully you need to do some serious homework. Serious scientists abandoned that idea long ago. The real issues though go beyond the development of life on earth. At the beginning of the universe, the development of D.N.A and R.N.A began spontaneously and consistently. This creates a real problem for scientists as one can not be without the other. You see, evolution isn't a theory that asks its believers to accept that there was a one in a million chance and life began. Instead, its more like a one in hundreds of trillions of a chance followed by another one in hundreds of trillions of a chance and so on and so forth for every step of the way. And no, we won't go into chaos theory. So we are left with a problem with evolution, many would like to believe but the supporting evidence is lacking. Badly. So in order for me to accept evolution you would be asking me to take a leap of faith. Doesn't that make evolution a religion?

1,2,3,4,5.~Those aren't facts. It's called a theory for a reason. Just as we can't prove God exists, science can't prove evolution does.

1.How do you test evolution with fruit flies?

2.Humanids~ Adaptation, changing to our enviroment. As years have gone by we(humans) have gotten smarter, taller, and more advanced. I don't see why we have to be a different species because of that. Animals~again adaptation for purposes of survival.

3. It doesn't prove anything other than that there are similarities. Maybe God got bored so he made us similar. Even if Modern apes are different we should still see some examples of being in between apes and humans.

4.Really?!? Where?

5.I watched this thing the other day that said Neanderthals weren't our ancestors just another humanids, so see, scientists still don't know what's going on.

1. I know God exists, and that's all that matters. Something you can never prove: That He doesn't exist(old point I know still thought I'd bring it up)

2. God is everyone's God....whether you like it or not.

3. refer to point 1

4. refer to point 1

Now for the last thing, I'll never be able to believe that all existence came from little bacteria that formed by chance, maybe with God's help but no other way. Why are there no other humanids if evolution is real? And then add on top of that all of my experiences with God. Nothing else makes sense to me.

Just as there are stages to the evolution of the planet, so are there stages to the evolution of consciouness.

While there are several stages below materialistic science (which is what you seem to embrace), this stage of thinking only considers things to be true if it can proven through empirical methods.

While there are many advantages of this level of consciousness (and it was definitely better than the magical or black and white thinking of the middle ages), it can also be a potentially very limiting perspective.

You cannot see God because you haven't risen to the level of consciousness -which some call the "intuitive" level - where God can be fathomed as real.

Once at this level, you realize that God is not some mythical being in the sky but rather can only be experienced within yourself. Jesus said it best "the kingdom of God is within you."

Therefore my friend I suggest you work on your personal evolution until the day that you eventually experience a revolution in higher consciousness.

At that point you will find within yourself the "peace that passes all understanding" (that transcends the limited materialistic understanding of the outer mind).

Why can't a person believe in evolution and G-d? I do. G-d started it all---and it continues-even unto today. G-d's day did not have to be 24 hours, like ours. Each day could have been a million years, or more.

The reason Christians do not sometimes believe in evolution is because is causes a mind to think, to inquire, to reason. AS with my parents, Christianity was not to be questioned, not to be doubted. That is the way things were-so, don't question. If I'd ask about something, the answer was, ''It was a miracle, just accept''. That is why I converted to Judaism when I grew up. Science and G-d can work hand in hand they do not contradict each other.

People take there cues from the higher ups in their religion. As their life is quieter if not sticking their neck out for no reason. Everyone does this.
Quietly individuals can see there is evolution, but know that GOD started every process that humanity has found so far. Every atom is what it is, and where it is because GOD put it there. On Earth humans can now rearrange these atoms - but not very productively. We are learning fast, and this is again thanks to GOD, for the blessings of our intelligence, and drive.
The smaller or larger you look at the universe eventually you reach a point where GOD has been there before humanity. Calling GOD Nature does no disrespect to GOD. Why would GOD not put into automatic a process HE designed, wouldn't that be why HE made it? To watch it as time goes by? Why is every sunset different - so GOD can enjoy them. Every snow flake is different - so GOD can enjoy them. What's so hard to believe about this?
GOD makes a mountain and humanity calls them old, but the Earth is GOD's sculpture - to change as HE wants - so mountains rise and are eroded away as GOD wants. Time means little to GOD, and as such a mountain rising and eroding is just a blink - right? GOD uses the rules He set up, because HE set them up, what is wrong with that. This is not fantasy but reality. Reality has rules set up by GOD, again no big deal.
So to recap:
People believe in both, but want quiet in their lives and are not going to rock the boat for no reason. Religious leaders want their power base and will not give this up. So everything is in balance. It will tip once science finds more answers as time goes by. Relax.
Oh, this reminds me - humans are very short lived, and this is why this question is always asked.
A few want higher evolution in under 20 years because many will not be here to enjoy the higher evolved human race. Yes, I will be gone thousands of years, maybe millions, before humanity evolves - I'm ok with this.

There's plenty of evolution "Within" species but never one species transforming to another.Transitional fossils just do not exist. In order to exist in the same environment on the same planet we all have to share commonalities, otherwise we can't make it .That's the genius of intellegent creation.
Animals are still evolving within their species not from one to another.Oh ,by the way ask Mr.Alligator and Mr.Tortoise how much they have changed in the past 1,000,000 years.
Don't you know how many frauds have been perpetrated in the name of getting "Funding"?Nebraska Man,Java Man,Piltdown Man,and I dare say Lucy is one of the worst by far.
Do you ever notice how news articles will come out when they want funding, such as Mars rocks found at Antartica, just before they fire off the Mars rover? Now(see Enterprise Mission.com"Data'sHead")they are kicking up stories about possible machine parts and robot heads on the Moon just as Pres. Bush says we need to go back to the Moon?
About once a year, the story of the "Dinosaur with feathers " appears, and then is de-bunked,every damn year,it is really funny.
You can't have a watch,without a watchmaker,that's all I'll say.

I myself am agnostic, but I tend to keep an open mind. Now since I was raised Catholic, I might be able to offer some insight.

When you use the phrase "facts about evolutions," you arent exactly using it correctly. It is just evidence that support the theory, not confirm it. Evolution is still just a theory.

Christians do not ignore the "facts", they simply choose to believe something else. They have an undying sense of faith, faith so strong that they do not require any evidence to believe in their God. At the church I used to go to, everyone acknowledge that evolution is a very viable possibility. They also acknowledge that the existence of God is viable as well. They choose to believe in God and accept that they might be wrong.

Hope this answers some questions.

I would venture a guess your beliefs concerning evolution and the apparent lack of belief in God come from a vicarious position of standing on the sidelines grabbing a snippet of information here or a comment there along with a predisposition toward the one and disbelief about the other.

Healthy questioning is a great thing. Human's are insatiable in there desire to "make sense" of things. It's actually against human nature to believe in what can't be seen.

So, if I might, I would like to ask you some questions.

Where did love come from?
What's it's purpose?
Why do we have rules of conduct when no other species does?
Why do we value life so highly?
Why do we condemn others as bad?
Why is it the majority of humans around the globe resist their desires to act like dogs having sex with anyone who "smells" good?
Why is it wrong to steal from someone who has something you would like?

In my opinion, if there is no God, we would never have developed these ideas because they are completely against the most basic level of human nature.

Look at a 2 year old child and you'll see it's really only concerned about itself. "Me! Mine! More!"

Why do I disbelieve evolution?

There are gaps of Billions of years where there are no changes. Then all of a sudden up pops a Lucy! This is supposed to proove we evolved??

Even the basis of Darwin's theory was proven to be wrong when modern man, with modern equipment went and revisited the island where his "brainchild" was birthed.

Finally, everything we believe or disbelieve is going to be revealed as true or false at the moment of our death.

It would be, "The Opposite Of Smart" to not give serious consideration to the potential of a Supreme Being. What a horrible price you could pay IF YOU'RE WRONG!! What's the price for me if I'm wrong?? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!

What do you think the advice would be of bookies in Vegas concerning choosing Evolution over a Supreme Being??
