Well last I checked dogs are not able to speak let alone understand our language as humans. They are dogs, they must be taught by being shown. If you catch your dog peeing on the carpet, say in a loud stern tone "no" (this is to give emphasis-like a bark not because they understand what no means but they will begin to recognize the sound of the word and the tone in which it is used). After "no!" is said take your dog outside promptly and allow him/her to urinate out there, praise your dog with kind noises and happy voices, a treat may be used occassionally. Make sure you are taking your dog outside frequently and not making her have accidents because she cannot "hold it" any longer every 8 hours if she is an adult >1year or so, every 4-6 hours if she/he is a puppy <11 months.
Good luck!

Dogs don't speak English.
First, clean your floors well so the dog can't smell urine.
Then take away his water for a couple hours so he is thirsty.
Then give him water, and watch him closely (he should try to pee immediately).
As soon as he begins to squat or lift his leg, Yell "NO!" and drag (not carry) him to the door, and outside to an appropriate place.
Repeat until it is clear that the dog has learned to hold it.
Then you can let her outside, and wait for her to pee (might take a while, cause the dog is unsure of right and wrong), when he pees, praise him and give treat.
Don't forget to regularly give pet opportunities to use restroom after he stops going inside (otherwise he will start again)
With this method, my dog learned by the third time.

Please be patient with your dog and train him. Invest the time to train him and both of you will be happier. If a dog could understand that long sentence, you would be raking in the dough. They only recognize the tone of voice. Rubbing their nose in the pee or feces won't work either - it is just terror that you teaching. You can't do anything about the past only prevent future accidents. Take him out often, praise and reward good behavior - he will want to please you not fear you and run under the table when he sees you.

Use Nature's Miracle to clean the spots where the dog urinated. You can get it at Target, WalMart or Petsmart. Walk the dog frequently, praising for going to the bathroom outside. Do NOT rub his nose in it (blech). Watch your dog and learn the signals that he is about to urinate - circling around is one of them

rub his nose in a few times...also, if you see him about to pee on the carpet, take him outside immediately. Eventually, he'll learn that he is supposed to go outside. My dog learned in a couple of days, but it could take a bit longer.

You have to catch him on the spot and say "no" very firm then take him where you want him to pee.
Also please no spanking or rubbing the nose, it has to be on the moment, rub a tissue on the urine and take it out with him put it on the ground and let him smell, he will recognize his pipi spot Clean real well so he can not smell urine on your carpet or he will still think "that is the pipi spot". rule #1 be consistent

To pee or not to pee? That is the question. Wouldn't it be better to show your dog where it can pee?
