I know there is a way to do it; I have'nt found it yet. I found a "speedometer" that tells you CPU usage and ram usage but I can't find an applet that tells me: Programs currently running. On the sign in screen I get a prompt that says "X number of programs running."

if you're using windows xp rightclick on the date and click task manager then processes.

ctrl-alt-del and then choose the task manager, when that starts check the processes tab. It doesn't show absolutely everything, Microsoft doesn't like telling you the whole truth. For user level tasks use the applications tab on the process monitor.

hit ctrl. + alt.+ del together . it should say something like windows task manager. u can also get to it by right click on the taskbar and click on task manager. then under the application tab, u should be able to c it.

press ctrl alt delete. make sure you're looking at the tab that says "applications". it will also tell you what the status of each program is.

WinTop is pretty good for XP.
