I went to the doctor this week for hives. The doctor said it could be environmental, or nutritional - any time in the last 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. I had taken benedryl the night before I went to the doctor. She gave me a prescription for something (prednisone) and a different antihistamine than I had been taking for my usual allergies. I suggest the doctor visit should be a good call. Also, I am using calamine lotion for the skin itching.

Your son has most likely had a serious allergic reaction to something he ate or got into contact with if he can tell you or show you do that first then either call poison control if it was something ingested or go to local emergency clinic once given some benedryl to ease some of the discomfort you may want to pick up a bottle of calamine lotion and rub all over this will greatly
reduce the itching and will speed the healing process. I hope this helps and make a note to yourself to get him allergy tested asap if possible.

It's good to have children's Benedryl on hand for possible allergic attacks. Keep an eye on his breathing, if he begins to have difficulty or starts vomiting, has diarrhea, or a tinny taste in his mouth...call 911 immediately. Otherwise go and see your doctor as soon as possible to try to determine what could be causing the reaction. Did he eat a new food lately? Did you use a new detergent on his clothes? Did he come in contact with anything different?
Good luck

I am allergic to about 100 things i have the doctor papers to prove it...something you only see in the movies..
I brake out in hives/very large welts...there are a number of things that will help..
1, it could be food allergies..only meds or waiting will help
2.some thing you came in contacted with...give him a really good cool bath that will help with the hives going down and sooth his skin
3.rub cool milk with cotton ball over hives also soothes skin
4.i have had them so bad they look like posion ivy..i have itched my self raw and never left a scar....
5..they will itch so bad then slowly go away
6..use benadryl lotion..not calimine lotion..
7 try to figure out what caused it..but may not be able too..
8..hives can end up in the ear canal, nose, eyes, private parts.and even mouth..not just on the out side skin...
Here is a few things im allergic to maybe you can get a better ideal of what hes been in too
1.dogs and cats
2,,,tide
3,caress
4..sugar,,but doesnt stop me from eating sugar..lol
5..cotton and cotton seed oil..found in most make ups
6..spandex like in some bras
7..wheat
8..the yeast in beer...i stay away from beer..
9..grass...just when its been cut
10. a lot of make up..if i have make up on and i cry..the tears leaves welts/hives...its funny...
the list goes on and on...
you need to make a list of everything that he ate and came in contact with and then you can start to mark them off..
i had to go to the dermotologist and have all the test done there
this will make him suffer so i hope you find out what make him do this...
Oh yeah something he was not allergic to friday he can be allergic to it saturday...thats what my doctor told me...

Either way, get him to a doctor ASAP. Don't take any chances. He could be having a reaction to something he ate, or if you changed laundry detergent or bath soap recently, he could be having a bad reaction to that. You might ask him if he was playing in any bushes near your house, some people have sever reactions to poison oak, and he may have gotten into some.
Good luck.

Give him benydrl and if they start showing up on his face or he has trouble breathing then take him to the doctors. Also dont give him a hot shower since it will spread more. Also try to find the cause. It could be a bite or a allergic reaction to something he ate.
