i've heard that teenagers cannot feel love at their age until they are atleast 18-20 or so on. what they feel is simply attraction and not love coz their minds are still not mature. is it true?

When I was 7 I thought I was in love. And I stayed in "love" with this guy, who barely knew I existed until I was 13. Then I discovered other boys at my school and forgot about him.

Then when I was 16, I thought now i'm REALLY in love, with someone who became a friend, I stayed friends and secretly in love until I was 19 and then when I confessed my feelings, and got rejected, I skipped all my classes and spent the week on my futon, with a box of tissues, watching Jerry Springer and feeling like it was the end of the world.

Now that I'm mature at the age of 29, happily married and really in love, I can tell you that love as a teenager is so strongly emotional because it's a new feeling you experience for the first time and it's usually attraction and seeking acceptance and validating your being rather than actually loving someone else the way you do when you share your life, values and home with them, commit to them and have babies with them.

Love is more generous and giving and understanding when you're older. When you're a teenager, what you want is attention, acceptance and for your hormones to settle down. So yes I think it's true.

Hello :-)

May I offer some information?
Ok, well, have you ever heard of the phrase "wiser beyond your years"? Some teenagers who have already mentally matured may experience this "love", but overall love can occur at any age really.

It was the year 1982 when Mike & Mary first met at a wedding.
Mike served as the ring bearer and Mary served as the flower girl.
They were both 10 at the time. At the reception, they couldn't help but notice each other from afar, and blushed when they both had to dance with each other.
Love? Well, after 14 years of being happily married to each other, I think that sounds about right. :-)
Oh yes, and this is based on a true story.

Hope that proves my point! :-)

They feel love appropriate for their age. Just think Romeo and Juliet weren't older than 15. That didn't work out so well, but they are the example of "love." Young people's feelings may be even more intense because of the increased hormonal activity. However, teenagers are not mature enough to make adult commitment decisions at that age so it's best to wait until they are older to decide to start a family or get married.

most of it isn't love. but there are some rare teens that do fall in love for real and stay together forever, like high school sweethearts, but those r the lucky ones. it's because their hormones and minds aren't fully developed or matured yet and they have mixed emotions. but once ur 21 or maybe more, u probably can start to tell the difference betwen love and whats not love. it just takes time and maturaty

effective that is actual. some people who fell in love in the time of severe college go directly to be married for 20+ years. do not hassle approximately what persons say as long as that is actual to you and your guy then not the rest concerns. the worldwide is done of judgmental people do not enable it get to you. I fell in love while i replace into sixteen and that i'm an person now and nevertheless in love with that guy. solid success!

Thats bullshit people who say that kinda thig are way to confused to actaully know what love is. you can not put love in a box or on a time limit
Now on the other hand love does not come with ever boy/girl you meet you may not know what love is at a young age and you need to know how to work with love because love is not like the buterflys in your stomache that people make it out to be you have to work to keep love alive.

actually its more like lust that most teens feel, but it is possible to feel love as a teen if you are mature. love comes with lots of different emotions and physical feelings that many teens have not yet experience and i guess that is why many cant handle the feelings untill they are alittle older and have more experience with those types of things.

I'll take your word for it. I've told myself that I've been in love with a couple of guys, but I've never really been sure of it. (I'm 16.) Not that I ever want to fall in love. I have a lot to do, you know.

cos love is not just bout feelings, it's also bout knowing yourself and knowing who complements you best. Attraction means he/she's cute and maybe acts a certain way that you admire. Ask divorcees, they can explain it better.
