I often put my machine into hibernate mode. A couple times a week, I close everything down and reboot from scratch. This morning I did this, opened Outlook (Firefox wasn't loaded, at least not a window of it) and this window popped up asking me if I wanted to import bookmarks. I thought that was strange (I wasn't sure what program was asking me to do this as the only running visibly running was Outlook) and I pressed cancel. Then I later open Firefox and it's as if I had never installed it before. All my settings, plug-ins, bookmarks, history, etc is ALL gone. I haven't done any updates to firefox in a while and I'm up to date v1.5.0.7. What's the deal and can I recover my bookmarks?

Thanks for the tips, everyone.

Strange, under Help in firefox, I choose "Check for updates" and it says I am up to date. However, I stumble upon that firefox 2.0 is out?! So I update to 2.0 and there I am, back with all my bookmarks!! Very strange but I am relieved.

Firefox 2 is out. yeah baby. Anyways since you said you were not sure, I think that pop-up is telling you if you want to import your bookmarks from the previous version, or from the crappy internet explorer. Who knows. So if you would of let it import the bookmarks then they would'nt be gone.

Note: see if there is a way of browsing for the favorites(or bookmarks). If your bookmarks originally came from internet explorer, then you can still import them from firefox. Click on "Help" then click "For InternetExplorer users".

Try System Restore...
Start>>>Run>>>Type this: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
and follow the instructions.
