Usually pain in the left quadrant of the intestines (I don't know about the muscles) will indicate a case of diverticulitis. Diverticuli are little pockets in your intestines that get something stuck in them during digestions, like seeds from a tomato, or popcorn hull, and get infected. Very painful! You will have tenderness when the area is pressed, feels like a "toothache", you may have low grade fever too. On the right side, it might be appendix or gall bladder, but not the left side. I would suggest that you take something to make your bowels move real good, and drink alot of fluids, avoid seeds and popcorn, or "hulled" things like peas. If that doesn't help, call the doc Monday AM and tell them your symptoms. He'll probably give you an antibiotic. Godloveya and hope you feel better.

Not knowing how severe your reflux (and I assume accompanying heart burn) is, it is hard to say. I experienced severe pain across the entire upper stomach area and my heartburn and reflux was actually reduced, but turns out that about 1/3 of my stomach had protruded into my chest cavity! I actually thought I was having a heart attack and went to the ER for treatment for that! They saw the "mass" which was my stomach, but they were looking for heart symptoms! After an Upper GI, they decided my hiatal hernia had progressed to a trans-esophageal hernia, and subsequent surgery (laproscopic) resolved all my problems! I eat less (have lost nearly 15 lbs) and feel wonderful. GO SEE A DR AND DON'T LET THEM FORGET ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ESOPHOGEAL HERNIA! They may do a battery of unnecessary tests, but the results of those tests will at the minimum let you know what is Right!

I'm assuming you want to know what could be going on? How do you know it's a "muscle pain" It could be your pancreas. Also, even though your gall bladder is in your right upper quadrant, it frequently has problems at the same time as the gall bladder. Just some possbililities.

Where do you consider upper left quadrant? When I hear about that kind of pain, I think of my friend who thought he had muscle pain, but his main artery was 95% blocked. They got it just in time or he would have died. He's only 45. See your doctor pronto.

Reflux that isn't being treated, or bad gallbladder.
