Ouch! It is awful to be the only one without the latest chic accessory, so you have my heartfelt sympathy.
As long as you hang around with your friends, the issue of an emergency is relatively slight.
What may have influenced Mom is that a cell phone can cost a lot of money, no, not just the initial cost, but also the costs of using it. For an example, we bought cell phones on the family plan for a set rate, with the set amount of minutes, yada yada. My son discovered text messaging, and we discovered it doubled our phone bill. Living on a tight budget makes it real hard to deal with surprises like that. This might be a large part of why you don't have a phone.
You are 15, so you could be driving within a year. If that is not too long to wait, my suspicion is that when (not if) you run your first errand in Moms car, you will have a cell phone go with you.
Good luck, and enjoy!

Look it's true that cell phones are good for emergencies, but because your freinds have 1, no, cell phones cost too much money your mother probably doesn't have enough money for that and since your 15 and you have a lot of friends than she knows it will cost a lot, you could get a job and buy 1 yourself and pay it off that way nobody says nothing 2 you, and if you don't want a job then think of it this way if she does get you 1 then that means she will have you in check every single day, think about it.

I don't think you can really put an age restriction on having a cell phone. The questions you should ask yourself is are you mature enough to keep the minutes under control? Do you have a way to pay the bill, such as a job or other income like an allowance? Maybe you should consider a pre-paid cell phone that you could purchase on your own without a contract. When the minutes are up on these phones you would have to pay for additonal ones as you need them. I hope this was helpful!

If my 13 year old son does well on the next report card I will get him one for X-Mas (in addition to what he already got). He tried using the safety approach with me too. If this is indeed the case, there are cheap plans you can get that will only give you 30 min. a month or so. That would be perfect for emergencies or a few short conversations. If you really want it to talk alot you will need a whole lot more than a half hour which gets eaten up pretty quickly. Esp. when others find out you have a phone and start asking to borrow it or start calling you.

If there is an emergency, and you are with your friends, you can use their cell phone.
The answer is not about age. It is more to deal with responsibility. It is an extra bill to be paid. Will you be paying it? The way you pose your question makes you sound spoiled, and all you have to do is keep it up and you'll get one. If all of your friends had AIDS, would you want that too. If that is your best argument for having a cell phone, because everyone else has one, then you are not mature enough to have one.

First you should sit down with your parents and ask why they don't want you having a cell phone. Then show them on paper the reasons that you want a cell phone. Be mature and adult like. My daughter who is 10 years old has a cell phone. She has a mini-razor. Her mother gives her everything she wants and if it isn't her mother it is her mother's parents doing it. Yes my daughter is a spoiled brat. At 10 years old she is too young. I can see at 15 you need a phone. God forbid if anything serious were to happen to you say at a party or a friend left you behind at the mall. But if you abuse the privilege your mom has the right to take it from you.

I really think you are too young. Your mother is right not to let you have one. Your friends don't need them either. Maybe age 17 but not 15. And if you're worried about an emergency you can get a phone that will only let you call 911.

Do you want the cell phone for emergencies or because all your friends have one. If you really want one for just emergencies try a track phone or one that only allows to call 4 numbers programmed by your parents. If you want it for the other reasons get a job and pay for it yourself.

If there's an emergency, you use a pay phone, or the one "all of your friends" have. Believe it or not, there was a time very long ago (like 10 years ago) when *most* people didn't have cell phones. We somehow managed to deal with all sorts of emergencies. :-)
When you can pay for one yourself, then get one.

that is subjective adn teh readon why parents are allowed to be parents adn you will be allowed the same priviledge when you pour your heart adn sould into you childrens some day and you may have differemt rules or same but it will be because of your love so dont look at it as what you can' t do and/or as punishment or similar if possible find out the reason why they are asking you not to have one and if they sahre with you maybe you can show your sense of responsability and it will come sooner than you think ,This is a way to open the door to relationship and communication which can lead to a happier family
Thanks
