little tic where he sort of like shivers or chatters his teeth. He is not cold, and its much more deliberate than a shiver or chill responce. He has no other symptoms and the upper respitory is totally gone. Is he being odd? I checked to see if maybe one of his teeth were giving him a problem, but could find nothing. Any ideas anyone? Ever heard of such a thing?

He is an unnuetered male Italian Greyhound, I have recently added a female IG who is now about 5 months old and who also caught the upper respitory. Both are recovered and kept separate, and he only seems to do this when he is sitting on my bed and is aware of his surroundings, no other symptoms, like staring or anything.

This is new, he is 7 1/2 year old, and not prone to this type of chattering on his teeth, all IG's are prone to getting cold and he does, but he's never done this type. Its slower (still kinda fast, but not shivering kind). Hard to explain. Meds were finished weeks ago and this started shortly after. I called vet and she said they can have odd symptoms for weeks after an UR. She didn't seem concerned, but now it seems to be fairly regular and just so odd. I'd say he doing it about 10 times a day and once he does it, he tends to do it again and again, stopping in between. It makes me stop and look at him and check him for other things, but nothing else seems to be wrong. Should I make another appointment?

We used to have an Italian Greyhound that did that. She would look at you and shiver, kindof. Very deliberate, like you said. Go figure.

I don't know what breed of dog you have, but greyhounds do that all the time when they're really happy! They very deliberately chitter with their teeth. If his teeth were bothering him, he'd show different symptoms - he wouldn't want to eat, wouldn't try to chew anything like a rawhide or nylabone.

If your pet is still on the medication,he could be having a reaction to the meds.If not still on meds, sounds like he is a little nerveous about something.Would check with Vet if this is unordinary for your pet.

Grayhounds have a habit of doing this.. It may also be a reaction the female. but if you still don't feel comfortable take him back to the doctor and have them see what is up. goodluck

Never heard of it. Perhaps he's reacting badly to something. The vet might be able to see what happened and correct the problem if you take him again.
