Why did God go though all that trouble just to repent for your sins?I don't understand why God had to make himself into human form and come to earth as Jesus, and punish himself for the sins of his OWN creation, and take up as the Holy Ghost? This makes no sense what so ever. Why couldn't God just stay in heaven and wait until Judgement Day to punish or reward people instead of punishing himself? This is like saying my Mom should punish herself for all the worng thnigs I've done. That's just crazy. Why does God have to hold reponsible for the sins of the filty human beings as us, his own creation. It's not like one day God had an ephiphiny to create humans commiting sins so he can punish himself for us just for the heck of it? It makes no sense.

If you believe in Christ as the messiah, then here's the logic: God created (via the virgin birth) Jesus, the son, to live among the people and trying to get them to focus on the two important commandments: Love God and love your neighbor. His radicalism and preaching and teaching made him unpopular with those in power (Romans). His sacrifice of his life on the cross, for Christians, is the symbolic representation of the lengths to which God goes to show love. Jesus was killed by a people who were enraged, jealous, and angry. On the cross, he implored God to forgive the masses "for they know not what they do." Finally, and this is the most important element of Christianity IMHO, Jesus is resurrected from the dead; thus offering Christians the hope that we can be forgiven for our sins.

Why go through all the trouble? Because if Jesus hadn't gone through all the trouble, then (a) there would be no followers of Christ and (b) we wouldn't have redemption.

I don't know if that makes things any clearer for you. For what it's worth, if you're not Christian, that's OK with me. Personally, I believe there are many paths to finding a higher power. And if you're an atheist, then so be it. I'm not here to convert anyone to Christ.

It was because of his love that he did this. Yes, it does sound unreal, yet that is what we believe. The "proof" for me personally is that I have found joy, freedom, peace and wholeness as I have accepted this. That is all the proof I need. It isn't something that can be fully explained on a intellectual level. A lot of it has to do with our own lives and learning that we are not in control. I've tried some other ways of living and always came back to Christianity.

I have done a lot of searching and have studied all the major religions. This was the first one that told me of a God of love, forgiveness and acceptance. That I could find what I was searching for and after doing this for over 27 years I am more convinced today than I ever have been. Sorry that hasn't been your experience in life.

All religions have this problem. There's nothing special about Christianity. I've always enjoyed the World on the Elephant that stands on the Turtle, and the Cargo Cult.

Religions seek to find out the unknowable. They require faith, because scientific knowledge is only good when you have hard data backed up by verifiable proofs. In addition to this faith, all religions usually have teachings that explain a workable code of conduct so that people can get along.

God is, at this time, not capable of being explained in a laboratory. And it is not logical to say that since God is currently unknowable, God does not exist.

So --- whatever floats your boat.

All sin requires punishment. But nothing we can do will perfectly reconcile us with God, since nothing we can do on our own can make us holy like God, and good enough to be with him. God is a holy god, and only a perfect offering is acceptable to him.

All through the old testament, god required only perfect sacrifices for sin..but the blood of animals could only give temproary forgiveness. What was needed was a perfect sacrifice for sin. What was offered had to be blameless and without any blemish and have an eternal quality to it.

No one was worthy to do anything on their own since every person had sin in their life, and no one had anything but mortality to offer.

Only Jesus could qualify for this effort. Jesus was without sin and could offer eternal life. He willingly offered his life so that we would have permanent forgiveness, and be able to stand in the presence of God, his father. His free gift of salvation is open to anyone who accepts it. Since Jesus offered the perfect sacrifice for sins, the father God has made heaven open to anyone who accepts the free will offering made by Jesus for the world.

It seems to make no sense to you because the part you're leaving out of your equation is the most important part of all: love. God loves us and wants us to love Him. In order to truly love Him, we must be completely free to CHOOSE to love Him or hate Him or ignore Him or whatever. By giving mankind this kind of freedom and choice, God opened Himself up for great pain. He knew what was going to happen and still gave us these freedoms. It was worth it to Him, however, to have us totally free to choose to love and serve Him.

In God's system of justice, sin has to be paid for with blood. That sounds gross to us today, but to God it makes perfect sense. That's why He had to send His Son to shed His blood as He did. Yes, it hurt. It would've hurt Him far more to have His creation go unredeemed. You have to look at it from God's perspective -- as best a human can -- and remember that His love is so great we can't fathom but a tiny portion of it.

The answer seems simple to me: according to the law which He gave to the hebrews, sins could only be absolved with a perfect sacrafice. He chose to be just that, a perfect sacrafice because He loves us and wants us to have a choice.

Did he just want to punish himself? No, of course not, but he loved us so much that he wanted us to be able to spend eternity with him. Thats true love.

Well, the bible says that GOD had a plan for the men and women on this Earth even before the foundation of the world. So, he knows what will happen and what has happen will happen either way.

The bible says that God did not come to the earth. John 3:16,17 says that he sent his son to come. Read it. Why would God send his son to the earth to die for the sins of human's? Love. Why did the son agree to come to the earth and die for others? Love. Read John 13: 34,35.

You ask many questions. What you have to remember is - to each his own. Your life may not make sense to me.Christianity is the only thing in the World that makes sense to me. God is the only thing in my life that I can count on to never change. I'm sorry it doesn't work for you but it does work for me.
