You could try Weight Watchers Low Cal. Bread. It comes in white, brown or malted brown. Nimble do a low calorie bread too. Also Dark Rye Ryvitas are quite good.

I sympathise because I am in the same boat!!!

Anything with processed sugar and flour like white bread is going to make it hard for you to lose weight. After you get done eating it, you're going to be hungry a short while later because your blood sugar is spiking and crashing.

Try green leafy vegetables, eggs, cheese, chicken and other meats. I always keep a bag of baby carrots, cheese sticks, or sugar snap peas around in case I get the urge to munch. Stay away from sugary fruits like raisins or dried cranberries as they have a tendency to mess with your blood sugar too. You can also replace most drinks you'd use sugar in (i.e. coffee, tea) with splenda which tastes virtually the same (to me, anyway).

When you cut out the sugar and flour, the pounds melt right off.

Good luck with your weight loss.

Just cut it out and don't "replace" it with any food, just eat a good variety of all other foods and you should feel fulfilled. Nuts and cereals might help fill in the gap. You will probably feel withdrawal symptoms going off bread but after it is gone you will get used to your diet.

ooh! i forgot what it's called! but go to a health food/ vitamin tablets store and ask if they sell these tables that burn carbs. you have to take two before each meal, then! no bread replacement needed! im in england so we have holland and barrats healf food and such store.

pitta bread should be good- you have made sandwitches aaannnd thinner than other breads. and lower in calories and fat.
the key is:
potato: sweet potato
bread: grannery or brown bread
rice: brown rice

theyre better for you anyway, but theyre digested slower so you eat less of it and stay fuller longer.

Dear Paul R,

I would suggest that you eat flour tortillas but fill it with lots of vegies--lettuce, tomatoe, cucumber, carrot shavings, etc. Remember also Paul that in order to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you take in. Eat normally for three days and take your weight for those three days. Add all the calories that you consumed for the 3 days and then divide by 3--the answer gives you what your normal daily calorie intake is. To lose weight, you need to reduce your total number of calories consumed. So, say you were consuming 2400 calories per day. Reduce your calorie intake by 100 calories/day. Stay on this diet and over time you will see a reduction in your weight. And if you incorporate exercise, which is good for heart and lungs, you will also burn calories. But do not add calories just becasue you are exercising.

Try using Ryvita or similar with cheese, fruit or salads. Rice cakes are pretty horrible so won't recommend them but look for the crisp breads in the savoury biscuit section of your supermarket as there are some really tasty ones, with garlic, pepper, and all sorts of flavours that are recommended for weight loss.

If it is just bread you are giving up then you can eat a small red potato. Try to eat fish. A diet high in omega-3's is much healthier then other proteins. Un-breaded fish, that is.

Whole grain bread isn't bad, in moderation.
Some brown rice in moderation.
Vegetables, like a lettuce wrap.
Fruit, but not too much because they do have a lot of sugar.
