I know a lot of troops over there are being made to stay longer, instead of 6months some stay 12-18months whether they are about to go insane or not..I heard a few are commiting suicide b/c thats there only way out and they can't take it anymore. IN ur opinion do you think they are going to make everyone single military persons stay longer? or do you think some will come home when they are suppose to? my b/f is suppose to stay 6months and i'm afraid he will have to stay longer only to come home for a month or 2 then leave again for his 4th and 5th time. Im glad he is doing it but he needs a break sometime...

I'm so sorry to hear that. My husband is in the miltary and I am very afraid. I can't wait untill this is all over and we can have our lives back. I'm pretty sure that this is affecting every member of the military... everyone is going to be deployed at LEAST one time wich obviosly ONE time simply just isnt the case its many times for most.

The only thing I can think of is to urge everyone under 40 who actually supports this war on terror to put up and join the fray. I'm so tired of hearing and seeing the oh so patriotic war supporters so nothing but attack those that don't support the war... they need to get thier heads out of the sand (or thier rears) and go help our men out!!!!!! Don't they realise that not everyone fighting supports this war... but they're the ones out there trying to "win" it for everyone. If they feel so strongly, are able bodied and under 40, THEY should go fight.

If your boyfriend and you actually believed it IF they told him he was only staying 6 months, well, you are really naive. No deployment only lasts for 6 months. Alot of military officers may say you'll be gone for 6 months or more but if you've been in the military long enough, you know better. Yes, they've been extending altot of deployments. And PLEASE don't always believe everything you hear. All I ever read is,I've heard this and I've heard that. Where do you hear this; from the news? Before my daughter was deployed, her orders changed almost daily. Only til she got on the plane did I believe it.

Is your bf in the air force? Everytime I've been out there it's been for at least 13 months. Just be glad he's coming back. Don't despair because when he calls he will hear it. Just keep communicating with him and time will go a lot faster. Misery feels like a long time while you are enduring it. Once you are out of it, it feels like it went by in a flash.
Good luck sweetie...

Unfortunately for your boyfriend, it's very likely that he will have his tour of duty extended. The Army and the Marine Corps are desperately short of soldiers, and it's politically impossible for Congress to reimpose the draft, so that's the only way the military can sustain the present war effort.

I'm really sorry, for you and your man.

Good luck, God bless and I hope you're boyfriend stays safe over there.

wow that is really crazy,my boyfriend is on a ship for 6 months..he said he´s gettin out after this deployment..I dont think they should make them stay longer, but you know they can make an extension if needed, they will let him go home and then leave again, thats the military, its not healthy.I hope everythin works out for you and him,I really do.

My fiance is currently serving his 2nd tour of Iraq- he was supposed to be out of the Army back in July but thanks to Stop Loss, he won't be out until March now...
The chances of it happening to your BF is high, the military is short handed..There's no real way of knowing what will happen.. Maybe he'll get lucky..
