You can try soaking your feet and gently removing the top layer of the callous over a period of time. Don't try to remove it all at once, or you might find yourself in more pain than you are now. Also avoid trying to abrade it off with pumice or emery boards. A few rubs after soaking will wear it away slowly. Callouses grow because of friction, and heavy rubbing will only make it continue to grow. Make sure you buy properly fitted shoes that are built for comfort and support over style. What good is looking good, when you're in pain? What you think are callouses may be plantar warts. Yes, their called warts but they often appear as areas of callous. If you have medical coverage, have your regular doctor refer you to a podiatrist. Something may be going on other than common callouses.

I do the vaseline treatment too. Sometimes I even wrap my feet in Saran wrap to keep the moisture in and then put socks on top of that. Be careful to have socks that won't slip off.

at night, apply petroleum jelly to both feet then wear socks so the jelly doesn't rub onto your sheets. :) does a fairly good job of removing the callouses. or get better-fitting/good cushioning shoes. :)
