I have been taking Xenical since the end of August and this is the information word for word from my X-Plan booklet that I was given when I began taking it.

"The safety of Xenical during pregnancy has not been established so taking Xenical while pregnant is not currently recommended. If you are thinking about becoming pregnant talk to your doctor"

So the answer seems to be no. I hope this helps.

Well...it depends.

I mean, yes, it is known to be safe in pregnancy. It is a class B drug, which is about as safe as it gets. Therefore, it is not going to hurt the baby, as far as we know today. Things can change, and there are always unknown risks with taking medicines that become much more risky in pregnancy (because it is not just the health of one person, but two that we are dealing with). But, Xenical primarily works in the stomach and intestines, and most of it goes out with feces.

However, trying to "lose weight" during pregnancy IS unhealthy for the baby. Even a very overweight woman should GAIN weight during pregnancy.

So, taking Xenical as an attempt to lose weight DURING pregnancy is not a wise idea...

You can certainly get aerobic activity during pregnancy, though!

(And, by the way, Xenical is often stopped by people because it gives you really bad, smelly, gasious stools when you eat fatty foods....).

Hope this helps.
