Please give me the defenition as detailed as possible, but simplified... if that works.

Something that does not destroy the resource it is expoiting.

So, a fishery where stcoks are maintained rather than being fished to extinction, forestry where as many trees are planted as are cut down, or wind farms would all be examples.

Sustainable development is a current philosophy based in ecological understanding. The other answers you received are also right but very simplistic s.d. is a new way of thinking how we as humans are to survive in an ever increasingly dieing and toxic ecosystem. Bottom line is the septic sink is full and we are eating our seed corn. So a lot of it's movement will have to be done by informed consumers, because what is really the problem is the current (wall-street capitalist) linear (strip mine to landfill ) economics (greed).
