I suppose it's because we are. God watches us all the time.

good question.

Maybe it is because most believe in either God or in angels, spirits, or something like that.

I'd be interested to learn whether Atheists have that same feeling or not.

It could just be our sense of cautiousness, which may have served as a safety mechanism in times when humans were vulnerable to warring tribes and vicious animals.

Or it could be that we always sort of "watch ourselves." Aren't we most often aware of our actions, as if we ourselves were watching from outside ourselves? I am.

Or it could be that we really are being watched.

Well its from the prehistoric age when we always had to be on edge and like if a twig snapped we would be on guard some people have that still so that's why you feel like you're being watched because back then you usually were.

Because we are being watched all the time by God. :) I think it a good thing, because at least I know I am never alone; even when I feel like I am.

Most humans that believe in God are a bunch of scary punks. Believing something is watching them makes them feel more safe.

Atheists are not like that

Not all humans feel that way. The feeling of being watched is a symptom of schizophrenia.

Peace!

All of our actions are being watched and will be judged by God one day. You are not being paranoid.

It is your conscience that you feel "watching" you. When you do something wrong or immoral, even if you don't initially believe it, it is your conscience that nags you. I personally am glad that I have the Holy Spirit guiding me thru my conscience, telling me if I'm straying from the narrow path.
