You're the liar. You are falsely accusing the Word of God of being a lie.
Also, it is prophecied by the same Word of God, that God is going to do a shaking. So get ready.

Well, just like you say it: the bible is just like any other ancient text. But a lot of those texts are still read, and can be quite interesting and entertaining, and like any other text can teach you something.
Have you ever read the book of Job? Wonderful tale of a bet between God and Satan to see if a man can still have faith if every little thing of his fantastic life is taken from him. In the end Job forsakes his god, and asks god why he has to be tormented so. Isn't he the crown of creation. And god actually scorns him and starts comparing man to the hippotamus, who is strong, powerful and has an enormous d*ck (this text has later been replaced with less colourful language, unfortunately). It's a great laugh, and should be read by any Christian who needs to be humble again.
It shows not only that god doesn't take man to seriously, but also that he has a great sense of humour, which I always suspected :)

Did you ever fell you could fly when you were little, or talk to God when you were about 6 or 7?
Deep in you God gave you a seed, you have chose not to react on the goodness of God, but on the quest of Satan, who in fact was kicked out of heaven and God gave him Earth, to use his power to confuse and turn the hearts of men agents God.
and this is his Kingdom.
God will always be a myth to you, and the Bible would still be used as toilet paper in your out house.
But one thing I do know.
Satan has this power to keep you blind to any truth of God.
Do a test, take you head and face it to your heart, and ask Jesus to come in to it.
If the bible is a myth, this will have no effect on you,
If its real, this test, will prove it.
Oh, you must want to know the truth,
its the truth in your mind, and heart that will set you free,
That is the only way, your testing will work.
Its a test.
But if you have a feeling the test will not reveal its secrets from your heart.
Its your voice, and the thought, that will unlock the test to reality.
Do you have a seed deep in you that has been there from in you mommies womb?
Talk to your heart, that is where its hidden.
You will never know. un less, you ask your own heart,
Jesus, come into my heart. I'm asking you. Are you real?
Prove it. Come into my heart.. Heart, open an let Jesus come in.
Now, push every thought out of your head,, and listen..
if you do this email me..
I want to know what happened..

Unfotunately, the Bible was written by men, imperfect men. It's almost impossible to watch a program and have all people describe it later in the same manner. We all perceive things differently. Well, the same was true back in the day of the Bible.
Of course, later, things disappeared from the Bible or were mis-translated, which adds even more confusion and discrepancies. It is also difficult to take the Bible literally, as it was not meant that way. And when you start reading into metaphors...well, you get the idea.
Times were also different, and different things were accepted as normal or moral.

That is because it is an ancient text. It was attempted to reassemble it several times but the first attempt was only after the return from the Babylonian exile. The oldest book is the first part of Job. The second part with the three wise friends and Gods rewards was added later. The rest of it is a mish mash of partial stories and myths cobbled together. It would be like trying to recreate the laws and history of the Danish Kings of England from current texts. Grendel would be a major player along with Beowulf!

The Bible is perfect enough so that theologians and scholars can stand in awe of it. It is also human enough so that unbelievers are able to mock it and reject it.
The Bible neither contradicts in history nor theology. The only thing is borrows form is Judaism because we believe that was formerly Gods exclusive people.
Did God approve of slavery? God did make provisions for slavery because he knew people were going to do that anyway as he did with divorce. That is a strike against men not God.
Is genocide murder when God has ordered it? If God has decreed that someone must die, do they not deserve it? Should we not do it? As it happens Israel didnt listen to God and those people became huge trouble for Israel!
The deal is we have a great volume of books brought to us by good Godly people some of whom died to bring us Gods truth. Do you have the heart to listen to God?

If you think the bible is full of contradictions, inaccuracies and fanciful tales, then, well, that's your opinion. I have to laugh when you made the comment that God should have "thrown in something truly remarkable and meaningful". I guess you don't consider His only son dying on a cross to pay for your sins remarkable? What a pity.

If you read the Bible and study it you will come to see that everything you've questioned is in the Bible.
The Bible tells of the earth being round long before it was accepted by man. And the stories in the Bible have been proved through archeology and history.
The Bible contains no flaws or contradictions. Only those who've not studied it in detail come to that conclusion by reading only bits and pieces of it for arguments of their own agenda.
Studying will improve your mind. Funny how that seems to be repeated over and over.

I'm an atheist but the Christian response should be it was written as a result of "plenary" inspiration i.e. it's authors were influenced and guided by God yet recorded their subjective opinions in their own words, hence it contains flaws. I always like to educate the Christians on their beliefs.
