No. Sorbitol is a nutritive sweetener often used in diet foods. It also occurs naturally in many stone fruits. However, too much sorbitol may cause gastro-intestinal problems.

When you say you eat kosher foods....You mean you are from a certain religion and you can only eat certain things, Or you are just eating healthy. Well Sorbitol is a very good ingredient. I am a chef and I love sorbitol.

Sorbitol is this white powder that you will find in most gums some candies and you said that it is in this chocolate that you like to eat. Well this ingredient is comes from most fruits and seaweed. It is a natural sweetener and It also helps prevent tooth decay. There is another ingredient that you might find also in gums and it works a little better than sorbitol. It is called Xylitol. Next time you go to a grocery store and while you are in the check out line look at the gums and some times you will see both ingredients listed. Chewing gum helps prevent tooth decay because of these ingredients.

Chewing gum doesn't mean that you never have to brush again.
I hope this helps.

Since this is normally a cooking ingredient there is virtually no chance of intoxication.
Sorbitol, originally derived from the mountain sorberry, is a naturally occurring sweetener found primarily in fruits and berries. This product is manufactured from glucose, but is only 50-75% as sweet as regular sugar. Because it is absorbed and metabolized slowly, sorbitol has little effect on blood sugar levels. this product therefore may be useful in replacing regular sugar in recipes for diabetic diets. use in making jams, canned fruits, and homemade candies, etc.
