January this year my meld score was 37, July it was 7. I have stuck to a strict diet, watching closely my protein intake, it appears as though I am getting better, felling better, and I can't seem to find answers in the medical profession as to why.

Good for you! Obviously you have a "will to live" thing going. Please ignore Mr.Answer's answer. He clearly doesn't have a clue.

With a MELD of seven, you've obviously fallen to the lower levels of the transplant list, so it seems to me that you have no choice but to take extremely good care of yourself, which, it appears, you are doing.

Ten years ago I was given two years to live. Today, all my liver panels are normal and I feel great. I have adhered to a diet plan and kept a close eye on my lab results. As for vitamins, I take a "one-a-day" type whenever I remember to. I think a good diet is more important. If you're eating right, you don't need the vitamins. At times of stress, or when I know I may not be able to fulfill my dietary needs, I DO take the vitamin as a precaution.

I don't think the medical profession can give you the answer you're looking for, but others with liver disease can certainly talk with you about it. You may want to check out forums for people with liver disease.

IF I were a doctor, and IF you were my patient, I'd be proud of you.

If your liver is decompensating (which I presume is a prerequisite for being on a liver transplant list) it will not regenerate. However, since you are being diligent about your diet, which is crucial when you are in end stage liver disease, you are probably doing all the right things to make your symptoms lessen. Keep up the good work. Be careful of people advising you to do cleansing or other alternative treatments. As you probably know, your liver is not able to filter nutrients sufficiently (hence the ESLD symptoms & your qualifying for a transplant list); just because those products are natural does not mean they are safe for your decompensated liver. Best wishes to you.
